And you're still on his dikk.
And you still love his style.
Foh

N Ya fave wants no parts of that less than Gold artist. So there's that
:umad: that’s my theory for his perception clearly there’s a perception stay mad tho
SD debuted at number 5 selling 232K what you talking about breh? Where are you getting your facts:gucci:

The point of the matter is that Nas wouldn’t have gotten $10 Million dollars from Def Jam if he wasn’t a proven commodity in the sales department. As soon as he went to Def Jam his first three solo albums all debuted at number 1. And they went Gold.

Can you name another rapper not named Jay-Z who EIGHTEEN YEARS after they debuted was still debuting within at least the top 5 on billboard and selling Gold? Those names don’t EXIST breh. I’m not trying to say that Nas was this super Diamond selling artist but to ignore his commercial and mainstream success and continued relevance (Nas with King’s Disease now sets the record for longest span of Rap Album Grammy noms at 22 years since I am was nominated in 99) is just faulty logic
SD didn’t have a top 10 first week in sales in 2004 out of all the albums that dropped that year is what I was saying.

It also shipped 1M copies it didn’t sell 1M copies.

Just watched "The Departed" for like the 3rd time last night...that "Theif's Theme" ringin off in the background will never not be hard, :wow:. I wonder if that was Dicaprio's call since he is a Nas stan or if Scorcese picked it. :banderas:

Always figured it was Di’caprio seeing as Nas also did “Shine On Em” for the Blood Diamond soundtrack .

The Don sounded like a J Love throwaway
Thief’s Theme was dope but once again nikkax wasn’t trying to hear that shyt at no gathering
Daughters was ok but something you would never want to hear again despite being well intentioned

As an artists the responsibility falls on you to mix whatever message you’re trying to get across with making a song accessible to people

Let’s not act like Nas is the only person that tried to make songs with a message as a single. There’s been others who have done it bigger & better

The fact remains that the world moved on from Nas in a commercial sense because he stopped feeding the people

Ironically Spicy was Nas’s first attempt in yearsssssss to make contemporary music. Oddly enough that was the first Nas song I heard in eons coming out of cars. It’s almost as if he deliberately stopped making move your feet music

How is this a Fact whatsoever? How can mainstream move on from Nas when since signing to Def Jam every SINGLE Nas album has debuted within the top 5? Including his first three debuting at number 1?

Hip Hop Is Dead, Untitled, and Life Is Good all received Grammy nominations. All three went Gold. Hell he’s on an independent label now and Kings Disease debuted at number 5.

THOSE are facts. You can’t say that mainstream has “moved” on from Nas when he’s literally the ONLY rapper who debuted in 94 that can move enough units to debut within the top 5 EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Snoop Dogg can’t even do that. His last three albums couldn’t even SNIFF the top 10.

It don’t got shyt to do with the club. That ain’t what his music caters to. But u for DAMN sure Spicy and 27 Summers woulda been in the club if not for the Pandemic.

As I said before Spicy was actually played out in the community as I’ve witnessed it first hand. All of a sudden when Nas ain’t making hits anymore that’s not who his music caters to? Nas been the same guy pretty much since he’s came out so I don’t know where all that is coming from One man’s opinion :mjlol:

Fam. I never said Nas never catered to the club. I said that HASNT been his focus. U think albums like Distant Relatives and Untitled was catered to the clubs my nikka? Really? Same way Jay’s 4:44 wasn’t catered to the club.

i was thinking about something similar to this the other day.

Nas blurs the line between what your typical underground rapper is like and what you're mainstream rappers are like and although he has his hardcore fans including me, the support base for someone like Nas weirdly becomes smaller as he sits in between

I find a lot of backpack rappers underrate him and put a lot of inferior MCs above him simply because they're underground while Nas also doesn't hit with the mainstream or with lot street dudes who also put inferior rappers above him

I also agree people expect way too much from him and knock him down a peg or two for a average album when all rappers have them.

2 albums...it’s been like...17 years man smh All I know is you can’t shake your fist at nikkax when they dismiss somebody because they flat out didn’t make songs that were apart of their comeuppance. You put out hits that draw people to the album. That’s typically the rules for most nikkax. So while Nas was doing whatever he was doing guys like Weezy, Jigga, TI, Ross etc were putting out things people are familiar and grew up rocking with

isn’t that practically the point behind Verzuz? :mjlol:

So. Let’s get it together here. Have u been paying attention to anything I’ve said in this entire conversation. I have said. Since SD. Nas hasn’t focused on Hit singles or obvious singles. Are u telling me I’m lying here? What are u trying to say? Because that’s a fact. All of his albums up until LIG wasn’t club or singles based.

That's his business. I thought the point of all this was discussing why Nas is dismissed in these conversations? The fact that he hasn't been pumping out bonafied hits for like a generation could have something to do with it. :whoo:
