it's really not as simple as "your division sucks"

thats our point

If you are winning your division with 7, 8, 9 even 10 wins then yeah your division sucks. :heh: Are you really trying to suggest that the NFC East or Central is on par with the NFC West?

From top to bottom, probably not.

But it's rather ridiculous to compare a division with another division by record if:
a) they didn't play each other during the year
b) they didn't play the exact same opponents during the year

that is why the game is played on the field

Playoff system is fine as is. No need to change it.

This will lead to more playoffs team, which mean extra games, which is something that the owners and Goodell have been pushing for. Mark it down, this will happen in the next couple years...if not next season. An 11 win team NOT making the playoffs will trigger it. They won't realign the playoffs they will just add additional more teams because it's more money.

Pat's did that.

I agree they'll expand the playoffs in the next few years, but it's PURELY a money grab.

If the division winner doesn't make the playoffs, why bother having divisions?

The only argument I'd take is the not letting it affect seeding (i.e. if the Chiefs finished with the second best record on the afc behind the Broncos they get the two seed)

And if one team is victorious more often than another team on the field they should get in. That's all I am saying. Having the most wins out of a random selection of 4 teams should not outrank outright having the most wins.

For scheduling. If nobody in your division can manage more wins than the 3rd place team in another division then clearly something is wrong with your division. Teams should be rewarded (make the playoffs) and punished (miss the playoffs) on their own merits and how they navigate the season not because of what random grouping of teams they happen to be in.

:stopitslime: one of the greatest runs in football history negrosis

though I do "understand" your argument….I have no pity for a team that can't win their division AND can't a wild card berth

one example does not prove anything.

That Seattle team had no chance of winning the super bowl and got bodied the next week.

the NFL should do away with conferences and divisions, imo. Its 2013, almost 2014. The conferences and divisions play the same type of football.

You can keep rivalry games, but there is no reason for these artificial barriers anymore. Bad teams should not be rewarded with a home game because they won their division and legit strong teams like Arizona should not get screwed out for those teams.

But, why should a good team be rewarded by guaranteed to play that terrible compression, then?

The whole concept of the playoffs is to reward the best regular season teams.

If you have a team that plays in a terrible division and wins the division while superior teams with a superior record misses the playoffs, that format is broken and you are not rewarding teams for their regular season records.

Yep. Rex getting some credit nationally for "leading" the Jets to 7 wins. The league is just up and down aside from a few teams. The difference between 4-12 and 8-8 is way smaller than being 13-3 vs 8-8.

Arizona beat....

Lions
Bucs
Panthers
Falcons
Texans
Jaguars
Colts
Rams
Titans
Seahawks

now only 3 of those teams actually have a winning record

now if only EVERY team got to play the same (weak) opponents they may have records that equal (orsurpass) that of the cards

and herein lies the problem, not every team plays every team in the legue. so you are rewarded by handling your own business.

your first goal every year is to win your division. then you win the conference then the super bowl

teams dont play to win a wild card spot.

no

get the fukk out of here with that bullshyt

stop trying to incorporate the rules of other leagues with the nfl

you can't change the concept of the playoffs without changing the concept of scheduling…and nobody but you and @FTBS want that to happen

go take your Obama "change we can believe in" shyt to the NCAA
