lol?

Based on what fantasy?

Trump's pushing the authoritarian line, I guess because it isn't a black guy or Democrat you'll just keep your head down.

Trump just said he'll take your guns and deal with courts later.

:gucci:

Based on what fantasy? You have no self respect. Its actually disgusting to me how little you value your own life. You honestly think people experiencing genocide or a highly oppressive governments WOULD NOT WANT GUNS? How fukking disillusioned are you? You think people wouldn't take any and every opportunity to defend themselves? You clearly live on your knees so I guess you don't understand what standing up for yourself means.

And if you can point out ANY post where I justified or supported Trump taking action on guns WITHOUT DUE PROCESS then you can have all my Coli cash. His policy is disgusting and so is yours.

Based on the fantasy of things happening they way you imagine them to. This isn't about me or your perceived view of how I value life. That's what happened though whether you or I like it or not and the same thing would have happened if they had guns and in some cases they were armed and the result was the same.

The defence department spends $370m a year supplying 3,500 public schools with books, uniforms and equipment for its JROTC programme

Should the army subsidise high-school soldiering?
An unresolved question is being asked again after the Parkland shooting

@ill who are you afraid of in America?

If unfettered access to weapons keeps us safe why hasn't it worked? Why are scores of people killed every year during their daily routines and children at school? Should we arm the students next because that's what you're implying? More guns = safe?

Hold up so people really support the recent democratic bill?

We’re banning anything with more than 10 rd capacity?

Got love for you all but people are getting swept up in the “anything the GOP supports I must be against.”

Racist ass white folks will never give up their guns. Why should I?

I haven't seen the democrats bill. What are the highlights?

I'm fine with banning anything with more than a 10rd capacity. I believe that's where we are now in NYS for rifles.

I do love when people use wide brushes!

I'm still trying to gauge the purpose of your last sentence.

The Dem bill bans any semiautomatic gun with greater than 10 rd capacity.

Regarding the last sentence, I think it's pretty clear. Not trying to be overly melodramatic but we're not even 50 years removed from a time when racists/the KKK etc were openly and wantonly killing black people. And when you look at what is happening not only in this country, but worldwide - I truly believe there is going to be a resurgence of movements that openly advocate violence against non-whites. Now, some people, based on where they were born/raised or currently live, have a different experience/outlook on guns. If you're a lifelong NYer I completely understand how your perspective will be different. But my pops introduced me to guns at an early age and while I live in the big city now, I've lived in other parts of the country where I was exposed to the crazier category of white folks.

I think it's a great thing for black people, who are legally able to do so, to be gun owners. Think about how people jokingly made the comment that if every black man bought an AR15 tomorrow then gun control would be immediately passed. It's only partly in jest - but really think about that statement. Why do people believe it to be true? Why do we think that white politicians (and they're overwhelmingly white) that may never even think about passing a law that might "infringe" on the 2nd amendment, would think differently if black people bought guns at the same rate as rural whites?

I don't think it will pass but again I'm fine with limiting the size of magazines. A lot these spree killings last xxx long and every second counts. Removing access to large capacity magazines I would rank fairly high in common sense gun reform.

Well the majority of the world is nonwhite and Europe is mostly disarmed and doesn't a hold a candle to the US when comes to their hatred of minorities. Are there a lot of white racists in the US? Well of course there are but there are also a lot people who aren't racist and believe in the rule of law. The US isn't the same country it was fifty years ago or even twenty years ago and I don't think the state or the people that make up it will act in a way you're imagining. When things went to hell in the 60s and prior to that the government didn't just roll over and ignore what was happening. There may not be a gun culture in NYC but there is in the state and New England, I grew up around guns and have had them. There are racist people in NY just like there are anywhere in life but I don't feel particularly threatened by them.

I think that it's great that black people are legally able to own weapons too but the justice system and police are often at odds with that due to individual prejudice. All things aren't equal in this country though and that's why that Castiles of this country end up dead and the police walk on murder charges. Until there is a shift in cultural perception I will support weapons bans, limitations, and common sense gun reform.

A few thoughts:

1. I understand the first statement regarding magazine capacity. I think raising the minimum age, introducing very strict background checks, strengthening the ability to prevent certain people from being able to buy a weapon would do just as much (if not more) than trying to regulate capacity or even the type of gun you can buy. But that's a matter of opinion.

2. The second part really doesn't address any of my concerns. It's not the "law abiding" people you have to worry about. And while you may believe that the racists have been defeated and that the government is going to stand in the way - I would counter that we're witnessing right now that there is a much larger percentage of the population that is willing to put into power someone with unabashedly white nationalist views, then you might've expected. And I honestly believe it will get worse before it gets better.

3. The fact that others are racist/prejudiced in how they view a black man exercising his rights, shouldn't lead him to deny himself that right. That's what the racists want.

1. They are more important but we were talking about magazine capacity. A multipronged approach that deals with the things you ticked off implemented nationally is what is necessary imo.

2. Hillary got the most votes, I don't think everyone who voted for Trump is a racist(at that time necessarily), and the presidency was won by deception and fraud as far as I'm concerned.

3. I'm just pointing out the reality of the situation and the shortfalls of what you're advocating
