How you gonna ROFL with a hollow back?
As many of you know from my posting history, or maybe you don’t, either way, my opinions can evolve with better understanding of a position. Unfortunately, my opinion my opinion might be evolving again, after listening to pod save tonight. I try not to be completely cynical when it comes to these gun laws, and really hope that something can be done, but learning more about Sandy Hook, and finding out tonight that repub congressmen and senators would not meet with the parents of the babies that were slaughtered, if after all them babies were slaughtered, and the NRA stopped any action in thier tracks, how can we affect change now? I will say this, after November, these Dems better keep thier promises, they fukking better.

Did you guys watch the CNN townhall meeting?
I'm watching it now and man Americans are so stupid.

Rubio keeps saying "this country is great", "best nation in the world" and these idiots keep applauding him.
He kept saying that during the presidential debates too and kept getting applause then too.

What is wrong with these people????
Who cares that he says he thinks the country is great, he is a politician that is not what matters.
And he often does that to change the topic too.

Sheesh....

Then retired right after!

This is the equivalent of refusing to play in your final bowl game when you’re guaranteed first round draft pick.

Naw breh. It's the equivalent of avoiding a murderer with a video game gun targeting teenagers, when that's your job. There's no analogy for this one.

For context it's important to remember that most americans have less than hs level of education. Their amount of knowledge and critical thinking is limited, compared to sample population like the coli which has a higher rate educational attainment.

For better reference think of how vague hs education is or was compared to college.

Caught some of LaPierre's speech on NPR on the way home from work. Suffice it to say :scust: .

Unfortunately your cynicism is justified.

Nothing will really change until people start voting better. Unfortunately a good 35-40% of the voting public actually agrees with the NRA, and due to where they're geographically located (not to mention gerrymandering) they tend to have more per-vote influence on politics than the other 60% of the country that's concentrated in urban areas. Republican politicians are for the most part in heavily gerrymandered districts that aren't competitive, so they're more worried about getting primaried by a far-right Republican (especially if the NRA endorses their opponent) than losing to a Dem. So they're going to be against any significant gun control reform just off GP.

So the real question is how to get voters in rural areas to stop voting so heavily Republican. And more generally how to deal with Americans being so obsessed with guns. Can't say I have an answer for that one.

That aside, all you can do is pressure politicians on the local/state level. In the long term, campaign finance reform would help (too much NRA money) but the real problem is voters.

“He said he heard that I was a big fan of his, and then he said, ‘I’m a big fan of yours too.’ I’m pretty sure he made that up,”

Mr. Trump had called the gunman a “sick puppy” and said “‘oh boy, oh boy, oh boy,’ like, seven times.”

:dead: it's not funny but it's funny but it really isn't. Deranged 70 year old man.

That is essentially the whole gun control debate in a few minutes......It is total myth that more guns make anyone safe, I have heard old white men, who love that fallacy that in the "Wild West", everyone was safe, because everyone was armed. No, people killed each other in the street over card games, like kids kill each other over Facebook and snapchat.
