Pass interference is a judgement call and making it a spot foul gives you 4 outcomes as a QB:

Completion (at the spot)
Pass Interference (at the spot)
Incomplete (loss of down)
Interception (Loss of possession)

So two of those are the exact same outcome, one is neutral and only one is negative. So dudes like jump ball Joe and Matthew Stafford can heave it down field 4-6 times a game and have only a 25% chance of a negative outcome.

Thats a problem to me.

Yeah because it's worked out so well for them....it's really destroyed competitive balance. :comeon:. Allowing corners to straight maul dudes after they get beat deep will have a far more deleterious impact on the game.

Exactly. If you are alone against Megatron or Dez or Julio etc. 40 yds down field fukk it just tackle his ass it will only be 15 yds.
Its a double edged sword. I dont like it for reasons like this but on the flip side half the P.I calls are bullshyt anyway. I guess I'm cool wit it either way

I'd rather a bullshyt PI call only go for 15 yards than go for 40 yards.

Besides, how many times have a QB missed a WR who got behind DBs? Most of the time QBs either overthrow them which falls incomplete, or under throws them and defenders get a BS PI call because they just let defenders run into them. Your QB made an awful throw and you still get rewarded 40+ yards? fukk all that. Minimize it to 15 yards.

It could work out but more challenges shyt slows this game down way too much.

The best rule change they made was the force out rule, can't believe that was in effect for so long. Something that benefited the defense for once.

fukking Joe Flacco mastered this shyt.

The NFL has shifted overwhelmingly in favor of the offense with its recent rule changes. I see no problem giving the defense a bone.

They can just have two levels to it like running into the kicker vs. roughing the kicker.

If the DB just decides to tackle a WR then the offense gets the spot. If the DB gets called for PI while in reasonable position they get a 15 yard penalty. Let the referee make the decision on it. Simple amendment to take care of the imbalance towards the offense, but keeps the defense honest to a point.

Jump Ball Joe won a fukking Super Bowl so miss me with that nonsense.

Defenders need the ability to attempt to stop a 40 yard gain without being worried that their hands in the wrong spot on the wrong angle the line or back judge has will amount to it being a 40 yard play weather he catches it or not.

How many of those games were determined by jump balls and ticky tack calls on said jump balls?

nikkas need to stop acting like every jump ball is either a catch or PI. Plenty of jump balls get picked or knocked away. And like I said before, easing up on the down field contact rules is the solution to what you are referencing not giving DBs an out that pretty much shuts down the deep passing game.

These simple ass refs fukk up the most basic of calls, asking them to judge intentional tackling of a receiver vs reasonable PI, sounds bad to me

Don't like this, they need to re-adjust the rules but not so the defense can just rip a guy down on a 50 yard pass and it's only a 15 yard penalty.

Ala the college rule I don't like it.

If your going deep and are going to get beat a pi will save you

As opposed to the QB throwing it in the endzone just so the WR can draw a PI and get the ball on the 1?

I would welcome a 15 yard penalty on PI's. The offense benefits way more with the rules how they are now than the defense would if this ruled was put in place. I think this could even things out a little more.
