These simple ass refs fukk up the most basic of calls, asking them to judge intentional tackling of a receiver vs reasonable PI, sounds bad to me

Refs make calls based on how they get graded. The calls would be a lot better if the NFL took the reigns off.

I'd like it if there was two different levels of pass interference. One for intentional pass interference where the CB just tackles a receiver or it's just completely blatant that's a at point of contact foul.

For plays where the defender is legit contesting a pass and makes contact make that one a 15 yard penalty.

Pass interference is a judgement call and making it a spot foul gives you 4 outcomes as a QB:

Completion (at the spot)
Pass Interference (at the spot)
Incomplete (loss of down)
Interception (Loss of possession)

So two of those are the exact same outcome, one is neutral and only one is negative. So dudes like jump ball Joe and Matthew Stafford can heave it down field 4-6 times a game and have only a 25% chance of a negative outcome.

Thats a problem to me.
An incompletion is not really a neutral outcome. It's more negative for the offense than neutral.

They can just have two levels to it like running into the kicker vs. roughing the kicker.

If the DB just decides to tackle a WR then the offense gets the spot. If the DB gets called for PI while in reasonable position they get a 15 yard penalty. Let the referee make the decision on it. Simple amendment to take care of the imbalance towards the offense, but keeps the defense honest to a point.
fukk didn't realize you had posted the same thing already.

Shyt haaaaaas to be addressed, nothing more discusting than a 43 yard bull shyt pi call.. Either offer it up to a challenge a LA the cfl, or I can agree with some of the points made in here, have it either 15 or spot possibly for something egregious

bout time, i've always thought that 'spot foul' was bullshyt....it has bailed out a lot of teams just cause the qb threw it up and/or the wr let the db touch him....

lol @ the main aurgument against it being 'dbs would just tackle wrs instead of get beat'....lol come on.....that shyt aint gonna be happening like yall somehow invision...look no further than college for a proof...muthafukkas get beat/break up the pass a lot more than just 'tackle the wrs'....

fukking Joe Flacco mastered this shyt.

The NFL has shifted overwhelmingly in favor of the offense with its recent rule changes. I see no problem giving the defense a bone.

I've been saying this. He and their wideouts have this down perfect. He blindly chucks it 50 yards and if it's not thrown over the receivers shoulder they turn around and clutch and grab the db. Then release with both hands in the air . They get that call 80% of the time

Exactly what is a challenge going to solve? You know how often it is that when a covered receiver is going to make a catch the DB has his back arm/hand around his back/hip? Damn near all the time and according to the rules thats pass interference.

a few years back I would be completely against it. the whole 'cb falls behind and only gets 15 yard shyt' was reasonable.

now, why the fukk not ? qbs air it out deep every time on 3rd and nowhere to go hoping for bs PI calls.

fukk NFL offenses, defenses are in position of being bums all the time. this will at least be a rule that benefits defenses a bit

besides, its not like CBs dont do the 'fall behind and grab' shyt and only get 5 yards+auto first down, when they know they're beat off a break double move or something

NFL is so biased towards offenses now, it only makes all sense in the world to get it back to level of equality between two sides, by any means necessary.

Wait, why are we saying a loss of downs is a neutral outcome? 3 losses and you punt the ball away, wtf? if we going to argue let's at least be objective here...

Ala the college rule I don't like it.

If your going deep and are going to get beat a pi will save you
Maybe they can make it a conditional type of foul like they have for defensive face mask...

I think a decent idea could be any offense under 15 yards is a 15 yard penalty, any offense between 15 and 30 yards is a 30 yard penalty, and anything over 30 yards become a spot foul.

An incompletion is not really a neutral outcome. It's more negative for the offense than neutral.

But my point is its got nowhere near the effect of an interception and an incomplete pass has the same value or rather negative value at any distance.

I guess you could say the farther you throw it, the lower the accuracy, but still its still as close to a neutral play as you can have in the NFL.
