Thing is, you could argue the Heat benefitted greatly from the bubble. They were bad all season long prior to the suspension when playing in front of road crowds. One could definitely question whether they win 3 series without homecourt in a normal setting to even get to the Finals.

But they were handed the same cards as everyone else in the restart. The point though, is that opening up asterisk talk is a slippery slope for Riley.
not to mention their roster was a lot of young players who essentially had a whole off season break to "develop" (honestly i don't know how much developing people were doing on quarantine, but that's why this whole asterisk shyt is stupid) or at least not be rookies anymore.

It's hilarious how the reception of the Warriors winning in 2015 is the EXACT opposite to the Lakers winning in 2020. All cats could talk about was how the Warriors title deserved an asterisk because Kyrie and Love were injured, and yet a similar scenario occurs with Dragic and Bam being injured and now it's...

you keep harping on this. i've never seen people put an asterisk on that chip.

i've seen people say that you can't put the entire blame on LeBron for them losing that series since two of his best teammates were out... which i think is fair. just like i wouldn't put the blame on Jimmy for the Heat losing this one. just like i don't blame Steph because the Warriors last year.

To be fair, the bulk of their roster is young and they didn't get Crowder and Iggy until before All Star break.

But Miami played in the same environment that everybody else played in. :yeshrug: If anything it exposed some teams.

I'm curious to see how they proceed from here

who? show me.

i looked up the thread on here about it and the OP got roasted, rightfully so.

i honestly don't remember it happening in the media and have never really heard anyone doing it in real life.

i have never heard anyone who said "yo steph is a 3 time champ, but that 2015 one doesn't count" if any thing the asterisk i hear on warriors chips is Kevin Durant lol.

Nah breh, many ppl called for a “fair one” rematch after 2015 in which Love and Kyrie would be healthy against the Warriors. You even had media ppl calling for a potential LeBron FMVP in a losing effort. That was probably the most love LeBron got in a finals loss to that point(2018 he got hella love as well). The parallels are very identical between 2015 Cavs and 2020 Heat. LeBron pushing it to 6 on his own strength. Similar to Jimmy. Ppl recognizing how unfair it was that LeBron had to go it alone against GS. Ppl trying to look at the Warriors 2015 title as flukey after the Cavs won in 2016. And finally ppl getting mad at Durant and claiming LBJ would have more rings if it wasn’t for KD going to GS, as if Kyrie/Love/Bron would’ve been a forgone conclusion if GS sans KD ran it back against a healthy Cavs again. A whole lot of shoulda/coulda/woulda asterisk talk against GS.

Hell, after Game 2 you even had ppl this year saying that “LeBron deserves this EASY one, since he had so many tough finals matchups” after Game 2, when it seemed like Miami was gonna get swept when it was apparent Dragic and Bam probably weren’t going to return and Miami was getting blown out. Ppl only gained respect for Miami as an opponent after Jimmy forced it to 6 games. But up until Game 3, it was a forgone conclusion that a injury filled heat team wasn’t gonna do much against LA. Only we Heat fans had faith we wouldn’t get swept or that a healthier Heat team would’ve at least forced 7 games.

:wow:

Again, this wasn’t the first time the asterisk card was enacted because of injuries. It just sounds silly and petty coming from Pat Riley’s mouth instead of some random bitter Heat fan Cubano on Calle Ocho who has a Twitter account.

i aint gonna lie, i stopped watching the talking head shows once i got to college a few years earlier.

so maybe that was a thing, could also be that i'm surrounded by warriors fans, but i've really never heard that one.

i still listen to some NBA podcasts though and i've never heard any serious person put an asterisk on that one. i've heard more people put asterisks on 17/18 because they got KD and thought it was unfair to the rest of the league more than i've ever heard people claim the Warriors 2015 chip doesn't count.
