you keep harping on this. i've never seen people put an asterisk on that chip.
i've seen people say that you can't put the entire blame on LeBron for them losing that series since two of his best teammates were out... which i think is fair. just like i wouldn't put the blame on Jimmy for the Heat losing this one. just like i don't blame Steph because the Warriors last year.
The media put an asterisk on it first by having Bron almost win Finals MVP. Finals MVP is a vote among 11 people picked at random among the media historically. Over the last few years certain Disney and Turner employees have gotten to vote that we know are Bronsexuals Brian Windhorst and Rachel Nichols. In 2015 the media publications that got a vote was USA Today, NBA.com, Bleacher Report, CBSSports.com, ESPN Radio, Akron Beacon Journal, Grantland, San Francisco Chronicle, and Yahoo Sports. It was a 7-4 vote with Iggy barely winning. Then the media were interviewing themselves about how they felt the Warriors didn’t win it because the injuries. All these media people have podcasts with fans that don’t watch the game but listen and view the NBA from them. Players on teams that lost most notably the Clippers kept talking about how injuries cost them. The narrative that every team had a point guard get hurt. Fans of teams that weren’t the Warriors would write or call into shows asking about the asterisk. Then 2016 happened long story short by losing 2015 became more of an asterisk. Signing KD made 2017 a another asterisk because for sure the Warriors were fukked up and the Cavs were in their head (according to the media and cavs players that’s why they beat them on Christmas). Long story short Curry was seen as a blip on the Bron storm view until KD went there and then from there it became a KD thing with the media and fans working in different ways to give credit to Steph to undermine KD not realizing it was undermining their whole run in hindsight the Warriors became so hated before KD they were called arrogant and soft. They were liked for a few months but since then there have been many attempts to poke holes into their run from so many ways. For me it sucks that Mark Jackson got the team stolen he took them from 23 wins to 47 wins to 51 wins. When Curry took off in 2015 that roster had a bunch of fat trimmed off and Curry was next level. After they won they talked back to the haters which gave them more hate coming into 2016 they were doing great until because of the hate the blazers didn’t wipe the floor quick and Steph slipped. 2016 Finals nobody cared what happened to the Warriors from the suspension to Klay being ejected or even that weird shyt with the players’s families being stuck on a bus for hours by the Cleveland Police. So once again the Warriors struck back at the hate by getting KD. If say they didn’t win until KD went this would be so different to the narratives people love Lebron would’ve won multiple titles in Cleveland then the Warriors could’ve had their run with KD and been appreciated. But the Bay Area changed forcing the black people out, the team built a new arena on the other side of the bay, there was an infusion of money pushing more people out, the media out there lost jobs because when ever a team gets great ESPN hires local writers ( they did in Miami) they were hiring people who just moved there (When Bron went to Miami huge number of people made the same move because they were or are still in the Bron Business) making OGs feel a way leading them to attack an metaphorically equal to that in KD. Add the fact that KD is a tall darkskin Black man who wasn’t afraid to tell the media how they were. It’s very interesting how it all works that from the court we get so much from sneakers, video games, podcasts, books, movies, YouTube videos, articles, money and so much armchair psychology that feeds into itself even more. Over the last few years there have been books that came out about the Shaq and Kobe Lakers they speak to the past now we got books about today while today still happening with the GMs and players telling secrets to the media that their rivals can then read. The CAVS from top to bottom sent emails to the league about Draymond to get him suspended and denied it but in a book written by Brian Windhorst the email is there. Of these books only a small portion is done by black writers. These white media people make up narratives then ask questions about them then make those spread as reporting then make books about it to go on sports shows where that becomes narrative and used for a day or week. So much is lost over the the time but certain things stick to boost up or knock down over time.
