Pacers don't actively target big name free agents, like most small market nba teams. Plus Thats not how Larry Bird has ever ran the team anyway. However At this point with the squad we have I'm sure we'd have no problem getting free agents if thats how management went about building the team
:comeon:I remember Utah and San Antonio fans saying the same shyt and then realizing nikkas don't care about that winning shyt that much.

That he did, he still has plenty of upside and I like I said, if you have an NBA team located in Indiana you're going to have to overpay to keep guys living there. I understand why they did it but I don't think he's done anything to deserve that much. Basically what I'm saying is if they were the Miami or Los Angeles Pacers he'd give them a discount since he's not an elite player right now.

But that's a load of shyt. Name the last player that did that for a team that was building around them... anywhere.

And the question is, "do you think George will be able to warrant that kind of contract?" If the answer is yes, make no apologies for your warranted commitment. If not, the search for a player to build around continues. Basically if you're not gonna believe in him, you'd have to do what Philly did with Holiday. Trade him, tear it down and continue to suck until you do get that guy.

BULLshyt! He didn't take a paycut. That would require someone offering more. It's hard to call it a paycut when the $44 mil even now carries a bit of risk. It looks good now because he only rolled his ankle a half dozen times as opposed to every other game. If he was still missing major chunks of time, that bargain of a deal turns into a liability. The truth is that Steph didn't have a major stronghold in negotiating an extension at the time. To do that is to bank on a balky ankle which he wasn't ballsy enough to do. It's a unique circumstance.

A healthy Curry spits on the contract. But then again, a healthy Curry sees $80 mil and it's a 5 minute negotiation ending in "yes." They were both protecting their own interests with that deal. It wasn't "$80 mil? I can't take that. Lemme help y'all out. I'll take $44."

Larry Bird got them nikkas just good enough to not make the finals and in a position where they're too good to get a draft pick yet not good enough to overthrow Miami or BK. You broke that shyt down perfectly, didn't realize all the fukking up they did this summer.

Regardless of what you say the dude was the face of the franchise and took 44 M's. He could've refused and played the season out and took a QO in the summer. Did the ankles play a part? Absolutely, but if he didn't want to be here no way would he take 44 M's, dude's contract is the joke of the NBA.

Sure he could have, but that's a MAJOR risk he would have been taking, one he clearly wasn't trying to explore. He could have played the year out and tried restricted free agency, but how much of that $44 mil would he have lost had he gotten injured again? He couldn't risk that. If he didn't have those nagging injuries and Golden State offered him $44 million, he would have demanded out the next day because it would have been insulting to do that. It's like Deal or No Deal. Instead of risking the briefcase, he took the deal the banker gave him and was cool with it. The contract looks great not even seeing the deal kick in yet, but he'll always be a nasty roll away from turning it into an albatross, so the hope is that the next 4 years bring good health, because without it, the deal looks much different.

We have more than enough big men, last thing we needed was some lazy overrated tweener. Scola > Beasley

David West > Al jefferson (for what he offers the Pacers in leadership and offensively)

Oden wasn't signing with the Pacers, he was going to a big name team from the jump

meanwhile we massively strengthened the bench by adding Copeland CJ Watson and Scola, locked up our 2 biggest lineup question marks for the future West & George, and will get Granger back full strength

I thought it was the general consensus by everyone Pacers had one of the best offseasons in the league

yeah.....id take him just to make sure he can't fukk around and get focused and help the someone else

i forgot to mention granger.....granger had a 14 mil expiring that they could have used/ im not the biggest brandon jennings fan, but they desperately needed a pg who can put the ball on the floor and make plays

brandon jennings signed for 8 mil, oj mayo signed for 8 mil. they coulda dumped granger and grabbed those two guys. so many f*ck ups......now theyre capped out with no flexibility

hibbert making 15
west making 12
george making 18

Lol, I hear ya but dude has played in at least 70 games every season he's been in the league except for the lockout year. I've said it before and I'll say it again, nobody has ever retired due to ankle sprains.
