I feel like this is one of many cases where the real pioneer is the changes to how the game is officiated that made it possible to do more with the step back aka refs loosening up on steps during/after the gather and changes to hand checking.

People need to stop playing Paul Pierce. He is obviously insecure about not getting the respect he feels he deserves...and its a bit annoying...but he wasn't a bum. He was good for 24 points a night in his prime. He had the old man game on lock. Most unathletic nikka you ever seen. Reminded you of the out of shape chubby nikka you grew up playing ball with that could somehow get buckets on everybody. There's alot of him in Harden, except Pierce wasn't as annoying with the flopping. Had the Boston Big 3 got together a few years earlier, either Wade might not have gotten a ring or Duncan might not have gotten one in 2007.
Watch your mouth.

Prime Paul Pierce will drop 33+ points on whoever was guarding him on any given night. It was ugly but effective, dude didn’t have any flaws in his offensive game. Super effective scorer
I mean he was a scorer, but even in his absolute prime he wasn't dropping 33 more than once every 5-6 games tops. He wasn't like the top-tier scorers who did that every 2-3 games in their peak seasons.

Interesting Pierce would wash him one on one and on fair teams. I fukk with Manu and Paul but Paul Pierce would wash Manu. Paul Pierce was kinda too big for Manu

I'm just talking about who really utilized the step back jumper as a huge part of their game
