Pierce is my favorite player, but haven't had time to catch much of this season because of work. Caught tonight's game. What a tragedy. Has dude really gotten this awful?

Uncertain grounds
Id like to think that the flawed system with JKidd and the adjustment period to dramatically different roles and teammates have something to do with both of their declines, but maybe they just don't have the same competitive spirit anymore after being traded. That trickles down into pre-season training regimen and game shape, hustle on the court, and mental focus. Add in the age factor and it might be a wrap, everything else remaining equal. KG can still be a plus defender and an overall contributor, and Pierce is still good, but its just not working out right now.

I'd like to believe that had the league allowed Pierce and Garnett to follow Doc Rivers to Los Angeles that they would have maintained their competitive spirit and at least played to the level they played to last season. I just get the feeling we're not going to get the best out of those two playing in a system they don't believe in for a coach that they probably don't respect (on a coaching level, I know they respect Jason Kidd as a player and his basketball mind).

That said, I wouldn't be surprised one iota if Brooklyn win on some kind of 10-game win streak or some kind of 15-2 streak or something with those two being a big part of it. I'm withholding judgment until we see Brook Lopez and Deron Williams out there full strength with them.

I'll be honest. The last time Pierce looked formidable was back in 2012 during the Hawks series right before he sprained his Achilles. Dude has not been the same ever since.

Damn right pierce looked fukking horrible.

Missing a wide open 3 to tie the game, and he had the turnover that led to the laker FG that put them back on top and pretty much ended it. PP is done.

In tonights game he looked beyond :flabbynsick:

Yeah man. People are shytting on the Nets because it's the easy story to run with, but I'm hesitant. Deron Williams and Brook Lopez are their two best players and they've both been out 5+ games.

How bad they're playing makes this Sports Illustrated cover unintentionally HILARIOUS though
