This shyt the reason why any politician proposing cheap public transportation with free bus routes/days is guaranteed to get some motion.

Cities are for PEOPLE not cars. The ride share CEOs, car companies, and car salesemen purposefully back politicians who don't give a fukk about actually easing congestion and making it easier for people to travel around the city by investing in public transportation.

If someone actually cares about winning an election to solve the problems the electorate has, public transportation is a no brainer. Anyone who wont invest in that is a non starter as far as im concerned. More public transportation means less traffic overall on the roads, less car accidents, and faster delivery of essential goods and services because the road isnt filled to the brim with personal vehicles.

and herein lies the other problem. outside of maybe 3 cities in the united states, commuting via public transportation isn't that feasible.

the auto lobby spends HUGE money to prevent cities from expanding their public transportation infrastructure. there's no reason why we are supposedly in the richest country in the world, yet have no high speed rail.

I mean people pay that in gas and tolls (on top of car notes and insurance). Remote/hybrid work should’ve been permanent, but these old heads want to get their money’s worth for the leases they’re paying for and politicians want you going in to work to “stimulate the economy”
I mean they could get rid of those buildings but that means they’d also get rid of jobs too.

I thought she was living far out in like Rosedale or Queens Village or something but she lives in Jamaica. :dead: She's got multiple subway options but makes the more expensive choice and complains. :dead:

She just wants attention...:mjlol:

It's not much but your employer should have pre tax benefits for travel at the very least. They want you in the city spending money.

She should invest in a monthly LIRR pass which for her zone is $207 a month which means a savings of at least $83 a month compared to her $7.25 one way ticket price. The MTA, unless you take it more than 12 times a week doesn't save you money since it caps at $35 a week. But yeah it's expensive to take the LIRR and the MTA. She could probably take the bus to the train but it'll take a lot longer.

The pre tax transit benefits definitely helps, you save on your tax bracket at least.

One of the ways that China reduced poverty so dramatically was to strategically reposition employment hubs in convenient proximity to population hubs and route public transportation to accommodate the connection.

Simple enough. You can effectively be given a pay raise with functional affordable public transit

This isn't an unknown urban planning success. Between such examples and outright banning vehicles that could help the masses by causes car prices to plummet, these conditions are being knowingly imposed on the people
