A lot of the posters here probably didn't grow up with a father, and so they never learned how to love/respect another man. Its sad that embracing another man is

viewed as submitting to that man. Its as if some of these dudes can only view another black man as either a threat or competition.

Mu'fukka what??? :what:

Unless you had a pops who grew up with a preference for picking blueberries & knitting doilies as his pastime while all the other boys were on the fields & courts competing & honing their physical skills, you probably were taught by your pops how to conduct yourself around other men, and I'm pretty sure cupping the back of another male as a show of platonic intimacy wasn't part of that lesson. And if your pops was born in the 40s or 50s, you DEFINITELY were schooled on what being a man is and the true strength all of that entails.

But given your posts, one can surmise you're cut from the cloth of males who's eyes lit up when Deacon Frye jumped into that game of double dutch at the beginning of Amen, then rolled their eyes, sucked their teeth, & crossed their arms at NBA highlights on the 11 pm news an hour later :skip:

People can believe whatever they want. If their perception of you shapes you, then yeah, I'd agree with you.
If you aren't gay and have a gf, and someone accuses you of being gay ... are you going to completely flip out?

nikkas get so afraid of people thinking they're gay, that they can't even comfortably live a hetero life without looking
over their shoulder.

Completely flip out? No. But as a black, straight man I have no desire to be perceived as a homosexual. It does nothing positive for me. I dunno what's hard to grasp here :yeshrug:

If Michael B was cupping a white broads head, I gurantee you that all kinds of women's rights groups and feminist organizations would be calling it sexist
Pretend that black men and white women are interchangeable in any given context, brehs....

I get what you're saying, and don't even disagree in terms ... but I also feel like as a straight male if you do in fact live life like a straight man then if someone thinks you're gay that's more their problem. It's not a reflection on you.

Not sure why coogler would take a pic like that. It's a very odd and submissive pose. Thats the main problem with it. His head is down and mbj looks like he is dominating him. Hand should be on the shoulder if they are buddies.

The only thing hard to grasp is the "progressive" kumbaya mindsets of these #newblacks :francis:

Compare a father with your producer :mjlol:
I was referring to what is gained psychologically from having a father in your life, and how that relates to the way you view and interact with other males. Particularly

black males. Judging by how poorly you interpreted my comment I think its safe to assume you're an example of who I was talking about in this thread...

I feel you, but i'll put it this way and this is the best way I know how.

There is an old Yoruba custom, i don't remember the name (i'm Igbo so forgive me on that one, but you can ask the yoruba brehs). But basically its grown men 40+ years old who always wear the same clothes, always go out in public together, and always hold hands. They are considered best friends and there is no gay connotation there.

However, when these men come to America... they stop doing this. Not because something they've done for years is suddenly a gay act, but because they don't want to have people constantly suspecting and asking them.

Ideally it would be only an issue for the people who are judging you, but I can also see how it can be a nuisance for the one who is being judged. It's just something that one merely wants to avoid.:yeshrug:

So whats the difference between submitting to another man, and submitting to a society created by another man?
