i feel ya'll that's it not on the same level as those other pac albums as far as sales. But it has classic songs, the term thuglife, the phrase bury me a g,how long will they mourn me etc etc with lil to no promotion. Prior to pac's death i only seen a video for this album once on tv (cradle to the grave) All things considered,it did well

nikka you're going by source magazine standards,i'm going off logic. Now way out ran the radio and but not in a force fed payola (but people arent really taking to it) type way. nikkas really was bumpin can't hold me down, been around the world, victory ,i'll be missing you,all about the benjamins's etc. They are bonafide classic songs. They are songs that mark that time in hiphop history. There are alot of songs and albums I like, that might not have had popularity at radio or on a street level, meaning I liked them but knew little to know one else that felt the same. I DONT CALL THOSE CLASSICS. I call those "songs and/or albums i like". THE REASON i do this is because opinions are subjective. So I try to look at it from a democratic perspective (what was the impact soundscan, how much was i actually hearing people play and discuss this music, despite the sales.how much did this music mean YEARS LATER) as well as my personal opinion of the music. No way out is not considered great because it was only the singles that had that popularity, similar to Fugees THA Score. Where as albums like AEOM,The chronic,matw,rtd,lad,GRODT,BP1,doggystyle,bigger and deffer,e1999 eternal, stillmatic, straight outta compton, way 2 fonky, murder was the case soundtrack,400 degreez, ghetto d ETC posses famous album cuts along with singles

yall throwing around the term classic too freely nowadays. some of these albums....

lol. you do realize that bad boy set the standard for hip-hop payola right? "i'll be missing you" is a hip-hop classic now?

How is Thug Life arguable, it's my favorite 2Pac album but it isn't classic. It's only a gold selling album in 20 years, it wasn't even critically acclaimed, not even a top 5 album in '94.

it doesn't matter how many retail units it moved or what reviews it got from some corny editors.

its a great album. I don't know about classic. maybe if it was a solo. I mean, the rest of the team came correct but they weren't great on most of the tracks. but yea, its at least a great album. the album where pac became PAC.

i like pac over the two as well.

this has shyt to do with new york. every time we bring up the word skill, nikkas like to duck it and come up with a million other reasons why pac is the so called goat. biggie shyts on pac and i'll scream that until i die

Okay then, Lets play that game....Im from down south and we have lyricist here but when the topic gets brought up about NY Rappers Vs Down South Rappers the J. Coles, Big KRIT and Underground cats that from here dont get brought up...many ppl bring up the Gucci's, Waka's, Wayne's etc. on why the north is superior to down south. Im just putting that out there. Fam could have brought up anybody past of present. There's nikkas from the west who can spit too and I 100% agree w/ you that BIG can rap better than Pac but dont bring up 2 NY rappers to make your point across on why Pac shouldnt be the GOAT when we know there is rappers past & present, in every region that can. Just saying Sir

"i'll be missing you" was commercial trash.:pachaha:

"been around the world"? nah.......unless youre talking about the remix. that was a str8 up classic.

I never cared for "victory" but i'll fallback knowing that im in the minority on that one.

if you want to base hip-hop around charts and industry props, then that's on you.

the remix is classic. a f*ckin classic I say.

yea, the original with the lisa stansfield hook and the duran duran(I think? not sure) beat, was the chit but calling it classic is a stretch.

you got too much commercial sugar in your tank sometimes.

you vouching for bad boy on some "they didn't even have to use payola" chit was str8 :laff: seeing that they were the all-time payola kings back then.

the only thing good about "i'll be missing you" is that sauce money got PAID.

Thread is pointless. Pac's diehard fanbase is mostly made up of emotional creatures who are immune to logic. If you tell them that Pac wasn't that great of a rapper they'll use misdirection and point to his media whoring antics and negativity. If you tell them his catalog is filled with marginal music outside of a couple classic underdog, inspirational, pro-Black songs, they'll point to his rough childhood and 'warrior spirit.'

It is what it is; a bandana wearing, shirtless, nihilistic, necrophiliac, personality cult fueled off Hennessy and 'do the homie' homoerotic undertones.

nikka i dont LOVE i'll be missing you on the level of life goes on i aint mad atcha, but it did what it did and people (not just pop cacs) fukked with that song. You're trying to rewrite history based off your personal preference. Both been around the world's were classic.
