I can only speak myself.

When I got bread :jawalrus:
When I'm broke :to:

The more I make, the more I want. Growing up the one thing my pops taught me is if anyone tells you money isn't important or money doesn't buy happiness, check for you wallet and lose they're number. Without money you're life will be miserable.

Thanks pops :obama:

money can buy happiness. but the most important thing it can buy for u is peace of mind through security.

go ask the victims of hurricane sandy....the people who lost houses/homes and are having to shack up with family and friends. go ask them if money could have bought them happiness. see if u dont get the look of death for asking such an obvious question.

Only people with a lil bit of money, think having a lot of money will make them happier. Rich people are some of the most miserable people on earth.

How many rich people do you personally know breh? Not people you know of, people you actually know on a first name basis and is cool with?

I remember in the rich kids of instagram thread nikkas was in their talking about they're glad they're not that rich cause growing up broke make em appreciate life more.

I've come to realize there's a lot of delusional ass nikkas who've lied to themselves so much that they really start to believe they're on fukkery.

To be fair I dont think anybody here is saying that.... what people are saying is money in itself will not make you happy

To a lot of people money will make them happy, everyone can understand that...but the minute you start telling people that there are plenty of unhappy rich people they seem to find the premise unbelievable

I don't think any of us on this board personally know any real rich people. I'm talking Donald trump rich. But I do know a couple wealthy families. My parents are considered "wealthy Americans" by tax standards. And they are no more or less happy than anyone else. My dad still has a drinking problem and my mom is still an emotional wreck at times. I also know some nikkas in the hood right now who are happy than a mufukka.

What changed my outlook on money is when I took a cruise to Jamaica. It was a pretty expensive trip so honestly my wife and I were a little out of our league. On the boat everybody was snobby, and whiney and complaining about the littlest stuff. The only family we made a connection with was a broke ass hic family from Alabama that somehow snuck on the boat like us. Getting off the boat was a total different story. Those broke ass Jamaican people were the happiest people I ever met. Everyone was smiling, the kids were happy playin in the street. They were eating and enjoying each others company on the beach and no fukks were given about who had what money.

The rich people are on the boat complaining cause their tea is the wrong temperature, and the poor Jamaican people happy and celebrating just cause the sun came up this morning.

The richest person I personally know owns a private jet, and my moms cousin owns an oil company, though they are definitely not Trump rich they are definetly set for life....like you I have wealthy parents and while my parents are happy thank God a lot of their friends who are just as comfortable are as miserable as fukk.....and dont get me started on some of my cousins who were spoilt like crazy when we were growing up......

I didnt appreciate it at the time but my pops definitely knew what he was doing when he raised us...... my youngest sister is useless tho

The problem with these discussions is that people let the extreme conditions cloud their opinions. Ignore the people who are so poor they're starving and without shelter....of course money will make them happier (even if you argue it's the food and heat that's actually making them happier, you're just arguing semantics). Also, ignore the insanely rich who have no concept of the importance of money...it would be like arguing if running water makes us happy. Sure, losing it would make me unhappy, but I can't say it makes me happy...its the base level to my idea of life. Ditto someone born insanely rich.

Everyone here falls in the middle, so the question becomes: if you had more money would you be more happy and on the flip side if you had less money would you be less happy. Again, don't cloud the question with extremes so don't focus on how your happiness would be affected by becoming a billionaire (or destitute) tomorrow.

Consider this hypothetical: if you got a $10k raise for doing the same job you have now would you be happier? I'd argue that most people would, initially, but then their lifestyles would adjust and their happiness would normalize.

Same thing if you had to take a $10k pay cut. Initially you'd be bummed out, but as time passed you'd adjust and your happiness would normalize.

The Ummah!
Honestly I was happier when I was broke :manny: instead of taking international flights I was happy driving to Austin in a POS, etc...

Is this a thread of smart dumb niccas talking about something they've never experienced and stating opinions like there is only one truth in the world? :aight2:

I guess I have to read it. :well:

That's all I need to know, you have no fukking clue what you're talking about :shaq2:. Unlike you one of my good friends is rich (at least his family is). His pops company owns the contract that does highway construction for the entire country of Nigeria. And yes I have his number in my phone and he's one of the happiest cats I know.

fukk outta here with this bullshyt. My entire family is Jamaican so quit with bulshyt annecdotes. I been all over the island from Rockfort to Trelawny. There's a reason so many carribbean immigrants come to the US just to send money back to the islands for their family. You went on a cruise nikka. You think they're gonna let you see the part of Jamaica where people are living like this:

:whoa: there's no need for :duck: just to try to prove your point. If money buys happiness then why are suicide rates so high in America. We are by far the wealthiest country in the world, shouldn't our suicide rates be the lowest?

That's exactly where I went. My wife and I left the tourist area and got a real cab driver who took us to a real beach where the locals were, not the tourist beach. Those were the people I talked to and spent my day with and they were happy. Smoked a blunt with the locals on the beach and it was :ahh:

:what: suicide and depression are mental illnesses. Money is a cure for suicide the same way money is a cure for mental retardation. Whether you're rich or poor, if you're mentally ill you'll still be fukked in the head.

nikka, I was on my 3rd passport by 15. I went to Jamaica 3 times a year to visit family. I was just down thee visiting my brother a few years ago. I damn near grew up there and I still got people there. You went on a fukking cruise and went to the beach. I'm not even having this conversation with you.

That's like someone from Haiti visiting Hollywood and talking about ":whew: man all Americans drive Lamborghini's"

i don't think you can tell anybody what will make them happy, so if some of you feel that money can buy your happiness then that is a dream you should continue to chase :manny:

i respectfully disagree though. it will make life easier, but that doesn't necessarily equate to true happiness.
