These animals become dependent on people for everything.

If let out into the wild, It would go insane and die without intervention.

Selectively bred to not think for itself anymore.

Mutilating their genitals so they are more "obedient".

Clipping wings so they can't fly far.

Live their entire lives in a cage.

"But its happy!"

It doesn't know any better:francis:

The more I think about it, its more sad and pathetic then "cute" :francis:

Well what is the solution, letting them run free?

Which solution?

Individually or as a collective?

Because not engaging in the industry at all is one way as a singular person.

As a collective, not much can be done consider people would kill you over their animals.

Plus the damage has been done to entire species of animals.

As a kid i used to feel that way. I remember i found a praying mantis amyd put it in a jar. I felt so bad for keeping it captive i let it go rather quickly.

But honestly as an adult i think it CAN be different. Nature is brutal and life in the wild is short. Providing a animal with a more comfortable existence is a noble thing.

Obviously theres levels to it, but in general having a pet you care about and take good care of is ok.

Birds maybe, but dogs and cats are breed to be domestic.

I did feel this way when I had a saltwater fish tank.

But thats my point, bred for entertaining the humans :francis:

Like a painting on the wall :wow:

depends on the pet and owner

If you let the animal have a natural habitat to be itself, no chopping and sowing things off and it comes around to get a few head pats, no issue :yeshrug:

Roll up, chill with the lions grazing.

They see a herd of gazelle, dap up and KIM. Let em be themselves :wow:

Not really. Cats to kill mice, rats or moles. Dogs for multiple reasons....herding sheep, protection, kill moles....

The majority are not service animals, but I understand your point.

They serve a function so it makes sense.

But calling it a guard dog when it rolls over for any ol body :mjpls:
