Truth.

J's a cool dude. I've worked with him a few times. He's slept on like crazy. He did a lot of the Benny tracks on Burden of Proof, and mad Nas joints and Dom Kennedy tracks, that people think Hit-Boy did. Away from his own music, he's been under the radar producing for a lot of people, but just hasn't gotten the recognition yet.

I wonder how much he was involved in Magic 2 I have to check the credits. Cause I dont know you how feel about the previous Nas/Hit albums but his presence was a great discovery on there. I found one of his beat tapes in spotify and played it a lot last year

If you follow someone on twitter any tweet they like will come onto your timeline (Pause):dame:

I just think its unfortunate man cause its disrespecting another young producer in the game like that, who by the way, other great producers respect. Dr Dre, DJ Premier, Alchemist have all shown Hit Boy love. They've worked with Hit Boy. It goes back to that whole different generation thing in rap about supporting each other than dissing each other. I dont know why you would do that other than just on some petty shyt when he wont go on the record with it. And its also dissing every producer Nas has worked with before like Salaam, LES, Large Pro, Buckwild, Q-Tip,Ye, Havoc, Al, No ID, Dre, Trackmasters. Even if you dont fukk with them its kinda lame
He moves generally like an unaware guy. I remember he did a similar thing liking or hinting a tweet when Nasir dropped being mad he wasnt on it....as if what indication gave him idea Nas would put him on a Kanye rollout:mjtf:

Pete has been Pete forever. It's who he is.

He was doing this in the 90's, when he was still young, lol. I can't remember a time when this wasn't going on with him. He's talked sh*t about actual legends too. When he had beef with Tip because he was saying Tip was "stealing" his samples, he spent mad years sampling the same sh*t that Tip used for Tribe records, to be petty.

So it's not a personal thing with Hit. But if Pete doesn't like something, or thinks it's wack, he's going to say, lol.

It cant be excused for it, especially when the shyt is not even wack like he says and its coming from a place of hate. No wonder he kept getting beaten up in the 90s

Pete is enshrined in the GOAT talks. I don’t have a problem with him voicing his opinion. He's done enough classic sh*t to be able to speak on what he thinks is wack. That's not hate. The standard was higher in his era, which is the era I grew up in. So any time I see the legends from back then speaking on current sh*t and what they feel is missing, I can get why they feel that way. The quality just ain't the same. We all know that. So if the dudes from back then think some of the sh*t dropping now is weak, I can't exactly say I disagree.

He was getting beaten up because he's a jerk. LOL!! But that never took away from what he was doing on that SP-1200. Dude's catalogue is still untouchable.

We both agree hes in the goat conversation but liking some dumb shyt like this, I dont see how thats even voicing his opinion.

You know if you a goat be bold and write your take and be constructive.

Like I know you dont fukk with this project but that dont excuse some crab shyt like this just cause he made Mecca and the Soul Brother which actually was a tweet that disrespected a lot of people lol

I mean he’s not exactly wrong

Hit boy is not a bad producer at all, he definitely has great beats…but lost in all this excitement over ‘Omg new Nas’ is that we got 5 albums and not 1 is classic or unskippable. Maybe not even a 4.5 micer. It’s more about the blessing of getting new Nas music, more about quantity than pure quality.

Production wise there is no ‘Be’, no Almost Dry, no hell hath no fury, not even a 4:44. Dudes like Alchemist, madlib, Pharrell etc have better batting average on fully produced albums. You get 5 cracks at it with Nas you supposed to have at least 2 classics

Now in Hit boys favor he hs a more diverse sound than those guys. His range is crazy, he doesn’t have a signature ‘sound’. But the potential downside to that is I you just KNOW a hit boy produced album is gon have a bunch of beats you don’t like and don’t even fit Nas

Not one of those MC's is on Nas's level and Pharrell doesn't have a better average than Hit Boy. Universal Mind Control is Common's worst album. Some heat on there, but not better than his previous two albums or the one that came after. T.I.'s Paperwork, also helmed by Pharrell doesn't fare much better.

If he agrees with whoever posted, I don't think that dumb. There are a lot of people who aren't feeling Nas working with Hit for mad albums. Pete isn't the only one, lol. So if he agrees with dude, I don’t see the problem with that.

Back in 2000, he said he didn't understand why rappers would want to rap over a beat from Swizz. LOL!! He has his opinions. I don’t have an issue with people speaking on what they think is wack. That's literally what the culture was built on. Speaking to what you think works and doesn't. Nobody got sensitive over that before. Can't start now. MC's and producers have always openly done that. I can't condemn something that's a part of the culture just because Pete is doing it on social media and it's about producer who Nas likes. This is Hip Hop.
