Not even going to click play on that shyt.

But yes, Ra is an architect...him not having "longevity" doesn't really mean shyt. He set the foundation for rap to take off the way it did. Him seemingly being left behind by the time the game had expanded is a testament to his influence, not his inability to 'keep up' with all of these different styles of production and rhyming.

Because his opinions on hip hop are the same as his opinions on pro wrestling: He has the views of someone who hasn't really spent time in the culture or spent time as part of the culture, has admitted that he has limited experience in said culture, yet is propped up as an authority or worthy of speaking on matters related to that culture.

He's a casual that has been given a platform to speak on shyt he admittedly has limited expertise in...he's the definition of a Culture Vulture

Wait a second...is this you? I know a lot of you mofos post on The Coli :wtb:

The Rosenberg fanboy is a gimmick for the radio.

I definitely wouldn’t call him a casual either. Like I said Rosenberg late night show the Hiphop show everyone wants Hot 97 to be.

No I’m not Rosenberg, I’m not really camping either, I just hate how casually people use the culture vulture word.

criminal minded came before paid in full though:patrice:
Krs and Chuck D raised the Conscious level in HipHop. Rakim set the bar lyrically and was also Conscious

In the late 80's and early 90's Krs was pretty simple lyrically but always had deep content. In 1995 on his self titled album is when he start stepping his lyrics up

This is why I can't stand Rosenberg. Dude just uses played out pre-message board arguments that make him feel smart.

Disrespectful as fukk, and he has a prominent platform so his rewriting of history has broader impact than the average person.

I don't know what planet you have to be on to classify this as "Skibby-dee-bee-boo-bop". It's not Salt Peanuts. It's not Cab Calloway. This isn't Scatman John.

"A child is born with no state of mind,
Blind to the ways of mankind"

If you don't consider that art/poetry, then I don't really respect your opinion.
He must think that hip-hop started at La Di Da Di. :stopitslime:

And I respect Rakim, he's the God MC. But that doesn't mean you have to :trash: other musical legends in the process just to express your completely subjective opinion. He wanted to say Rakim was the GOAT, which is fine. But the way he did it was by basically saying everyone before Rakim sucked.

foh :camby:

naw... Question, is his catalogue better than Nas and Jay?

in all honesty.

With Eric B:

Paid in Full is dope. album really had bout 6 full songs. The follow-up was really good. after that ehhhh

Solo:

all of them are respectable but not groundbreaking whatsoever.

Im not elevating Rakim to 1. sorry

Let The Rhythm Hit 'em is a almost as good as the first 2. The last one was the weakest but was still 4 mics. 18th letter had joints on it.

Why was this topic made? Hip hop is black culture. Hip hop is our thing. Why do we value the opinion of an outsider? We don't do enough to protect our shyt that's how nonblacks can just come in and take over easily. Like when white bloggers gave Drake a pass for using ghost writers.
