Born and raised in the Burg. I wouldn't plan a visit unless it's to see friends or relatives. It's a small, older city that doesn't have too much going on.

Stop past Croaker Spot if you're in the area it has pretty good soul food.

Croaker Spot is overrated and overpriced lol, just like Mama J's in The Ward but Virginians have gassed these muhfukkas to turn it into a chain; they opened one in Norfolk about three years ago...

The real good eats are along Sycamore like Alibi's, Longstreet's, and there used to be this bomb seafood/sub place across the street from me when I stayed at the Ward Center (Butterworth's)...

I went to college in Petersburg. It's a tiny city, but it's gotten pretty bad lately in terms of crime.
There are a few clubs downtown, there's Fort Lee if you are military, and Richmond is close by.
If you're into racing Dinwiddie is just south of Petersburg. Just stay out of Hopewell...the brehs out there are wild as hell!

Petersburg was always a little rough but its DEFINITELY Wilder now than it was 15 years ago when I was in high school...

Hopewell is trash, there's alota black people but its redneck as fukk, there's a ton of racial tension there. I hate Hopewell, they were always good in sports but I haven't kept up with them...

Just like Petersburg it had some tough pockets but is much more violent than it was. Hopewell used to be okay unless you were in the Five Forks/Kings Court/Langston Park area, now areas that didn't use to have alota violence are wild as hell...

Thanks breh I appreciate you :salute:

No doubt, where you from bro?

@murksiderock thats rockets landing neighborhood you showed has got to be the ugliest block I ever saw in my life. Who the hell built those homes? Children?

Lmao not my cup of tea, either....

Don't forget NBA legend Moses Malone!

And current Bucks player Frank Mason. And Reggie Williams used to play for the Thunder, he from Prince George, and Rudi Johnson played for the Bengals back in the 00s who was from the Burg and went to Thomas Dale...

There is actually quite a few guys from the Tri-Cities who went to the major leagues, they just wasn't superstars besides Moses. And I went to Prince George with Red Sox player Jackie Bradley...

For real? Is there any good places to live in Va?

Like anywhere else, of course there is. It just depends on what the person is looking for.

I know a few people who've moved down to VA from up North and liked it and then some didn't.

Northern VA is different from Southern VA. Certain parts of Northern VA, there's more to do. And apartments and houses cost more in Northern VA.

A lot of people in VA travel to D.C. for clubs and restaurants cause it's not a far drive.

When I said it's nothing to do in VA, I just mean, it's nothing like New York City or even D.C.

Of course there's things to do, but it's limited, because the cities in VA are not big like Philadelphia or New York City.

That's why some people in both the southern and northern parts of VA just go to D.C. when they want to go to clubs, restaurants, shopping etc etc.

:russ:

Breh, you're a legend in these Coli streets & I respect the work you put in around here, but
.

Thanks :myman:

I don't know, I guess my thing is, there's so many other places to go besides VA. But it all depends on what a person is looking for.

For some people, moving to VA is a lot better when it comes to housing. Because it's not as expensive as some places up North

For others, it might be because they're looking to retire to a city that has a lot less going on compared to wherever they're coming from or moving from.

Or it might just be a change.

Bro that shyt started trickling in the mid-00s, in the whole Richmond area. There wasn't no Bloods and Crips in the area, everything I know and have heard. In '04 this Crip dude from Detroit moved to Prince George, followed by a Crip from Little Rock in the same school year...

We used to have functions and sports events with Burg cats obviously, Bloods and Crips weren't a thing, most people I knew had never heard of either. Then in '05 and '06 there was this explosion of NY Blood gangs in Hopewell and Petersburg...

I don't know how long you been gone but they been there around 15 years now. Myself, I left in '05 and besides a handful of visits didn't come back to the area until '15, and even then spent most of my time in Richmond. Went to VB in '17 and haven't been back to Tri-Cities since, but there's been Bloods and Crips in the area since around '05...

Oh yeah the first Gangster Disciples I ever saw was in the same time frame, around '04 in Hopewell (Stratford Woods). That whole neighborhood started recruiting mad GDs lol...

I'd still say in Richmond specifically there's more local independent sets than national affiliates, but the national shyt started coming into Rich in the same era...
