Some hospitals have jobs up that say the PTCB cert is a plus but not necessary if you are going to get it within a year of employment.Well I haven’t seen any hospital jobs that hire techs that haven’t been certified. Now retail will hire you has a “tech in training”. Hospital/nuclear/compounding pharmacies are more advance and pay more.
Go to the library, and get a couple of PTCB books and study for a few weeks. You can pass it!
As far as traveling certs, you have to be registered in each state in that specific state in order to practice pharmacy. For instance. I’m registered in Texas first because that’s where I sat for my exam initially. But now I’m registered in like 30 other states.
You basically have to follow their requirements to get registered in the state. Like Cali & wsh state we’re like 8 weeks, but other places like NY & Vermont was moreso me just passing a background and the specific state boards validating my license was active plus paying the fees.
The hospitals during traveling do minimal training so they expect you to know systems such as Pyxis or Omni cell, EPIC, and things of that nature. More experience you gain locally, you can take it on the road and make
more money.
What state are you in? I haven't seen that in Texas. But ALL states required PTCB, they check your credentials before they ever send you on a assignment plus they require a certain amount of experience depending on the assigment. Some hospitals have jobs up that say the PTCB cert is a plus but not necessary if you are going to get it within a year of employment.
as far as traveling tech, am I basically good to work in any state that requires the PTCB?
man I have literally been applying to hospital jobs for YEARS and haven't even came close....well actually I did but then the guy who was interviewing me got fired so....smh
