I listened again. He starts out saying, now the DEI is off the table what do we need to do as Black people.
He then says we have to strive to be the best. He's right.
It seems like people are in here saying because racism exists, being the best doesn't matter. Then what is your solution?

Why did you ignore my last post asking if you’re Hispanic? Yes or no?

That was stupid. I'm Black. I thought that was aimed at the other person you were talking too. Why would I be Hispanic? Who do people get me mixed up with?

I'm not even sure what he's responding to.

What was the question?

Also he seems to be confusing affirmative action with DEI. DEI isn't a quota system or even a ranking system.

What an idiot statement. Every other group of people looks out for their race. But you have mfs like Pharrell who think they’ve transcended race because of his money and fame.

At some point Pharrell was a nobody who needed someone to give him a look. Now he’s in a position of power acting like he never received a hand out to get into the music industry at some point.

Yes you should work hard and try to be the best at what you do. But we all know the playing field isn’t fair and comes
with obstacles regardless of how good you are.:gucci:

The Truth
I guess people in this thread should ask themselves if they want their positions now because they are the best or because of their complexion :ehh:

If they even want the positions now. If not, what positions do yall want that you think should just be given like the white folks do?

Serious question, not even disagreeing. Just trying to understand why this is so upsetting to just say

If black people historically had gotten jobs by being the best, instead of being denied jobs, we wouldn't be having this conversation today. We know that systemically that didnt happen, so let's not be obtuse.
Bingo.

Meritocracy is the buzzword used to keep Black, non-white Latinos and Asians fighting for scraps.

Don't listen to what the rich SAY. Watch what they DO.

They give us the "hard work, equality" speech but will help their own even if it undeserved. Black people should always seek ways to gain an advantage just like everyone else.

My bad, I was wrong. I thought you were a Hispanic c00n. I now realize You’re a regular c00n.
Why am I a c00n?
I think Black people should strive to be the best in everything that we do. I feel like this is the opposite of c00ning.
I also fully understand all the repercussions of slavery and segregation and that racism is still strongly embedded in this country...and you should still strive to be the best at whatever you are doing.

Black folk make a little bread and start saying dumb shyt like, "people don't see race at the top, they only see green", only to realize later, those people do see race and are hellbent on keeping them out of certain elite positions.

:snoop:

I used to operate under the, "work 2x harder to be seen as being just as good as the white folk" mindset. Broke off from that thought process a decade ago, and took up a similar mindset as your post.

There is some Black chicken farmer out there, and some Mom and Pop chicken shack, and some Black trucker with a refrigerated truck, a black person in logistics and supply chain management, and some Black marketing exec, and some commercial real estate specialist..

There are probably some Black owned cotton farms. There is probably a missing texting mill, but there are black seamstresses, warehousing, distribution... Gullah people owning selvedge denim.

There's literally no reason in my mind that Black folks don't have furniture or air conditioner factories.

High quality training for CNAs and nurses (which probably exists) but branching out to physical goods.

Black people are in every industry, every endeavor. I mean T Pain out there crafting Country Music hits that speak to the souls of White people.

And all of that expertise can come together.

This is all obvious to me, but I'd probably need some one that studied at a HBCU to tell me what I'm missing.

Is it all individual self interest? Is every Black person so selfish that they would rather make short term money rather than build something?
