The song by itself is absolute trash. But it makes sense with the visuals :ehh:

There are roughly 50 million black folks in america .. the fact that you can take a handful of them and advertise their success -- although nice to see -- doesn't change the corrupt/broken/fukked up system we are stuck in. I wish there were more songs about THIS -- Blu touched on the topic in that record "The American Dream"

We need changes to the entire system, we need laws that redistribute wealth and correct for the insane wealth-inequality in this country. We need changes to policy so that 1 man can't accrue hundreds of millions to multi billions in wealth while hundreds of thousands of people are so poor--mostly black and other minority folks--that they are sleeping out on the streets tonight.

Promoting the idea that it's solely your responsibility as an individual to prevail this fukked up corrupt system only helps to perpetuate the status quo and stifle progress.

fukk Jay Z .. he's a hypocrite.

As he's rapping about black empowerment on one hand he's rubbing elbows with elites in washington who are lobbying for laws that increase the profitability of their businesses/personal wealth at the expense of the millions of minority folks who are stuck in poverty.

Jay should've had more bars. Only thing is music like this gives a false impression that we are and can do well in the current climate. Which is bullshyt.

Joe Budden podcast pointed this out. Do you think Pharell got his hook from here?
