Nah, he was traded to them and the Knicks acquired his bird rights. Amare is the biggest FA they've signed away from another team.

The Knicks need to forget the idea of going after big free agents and follow the Hawks method.

thank you, all these people talking about 'stars' the Knicks don't need stars. They need competent basketball players, they need a TEAM. The cap space should be enough to allow for that type of building.

Fisher is a bad coach...obviously it is his first year and what rookie coach isn't...but no matter what Phil did this year...no matter who he got to play in New York...Fisher was not going to coach them up...

Jason Kidd going from the court to the bench and making the playoffs got all these other dudes gassed...
Seriously...this has nothing to so with Jason Kidd because the nets had veteran talent. No one thought this Knicks team does. I don't get how you tie in Jason Kidd other than him going from player to coach like Fisher. No one had the same expectation for him. That's a rubbish contrived belief you're making for posting sake. A better coach would do what with this team.. Give them 3 more wins at most?

This team sucks and everyone knew it coming in. We don't know anything about fisher yet because he's been dealt a bad hand.

Jason Kidd is a good Coach

54 Wins - 2012-13 Knicks Team, Got the Nets in the 2nd Round last year and the Bucks are playing great without Jabari and Larry Sanders

Are yall gonna let amare come off tje books or trade him at the deadline

I doubt they find a taker probally let him walk...it would take a lot of contracts to trade for him...and the league isn't as high on expirings as it used to be.

No, everyone didn't know it, because the next roster coming into the season was not so bad that it should only have 5 wins now...

Like...the 76ers are really that bad...the 76ers have a roster of guys outisde of wrotten, williams, noel, and K.J would be 10 day contract guys anywhere else in the league...

No way on earth you can have a scorer as good as Melo and have 5 wins...no way on earth you can have a guy like J.R., who has his problems and limitations, but has spent his entire career being at LEAST an annual 6th man candidate and have 5 wins...no way you have a guy like Calderon, an absolute sniper from 3 and is 17th ALL TIME in assist to turnover ratio and you have 5 wins...no way you have serviceable big men like Dalembert and Amare, for from elite but both of these guys have strung together some at least average big men years in their careers and Amare was on his way to being a potential top 10 power forward before the injuries and have 5 wins...

100 million dollar scoring machine...guy who has won 6th man...sniper point guard who never turns the ball over and never misses free throws...big men who can at least get rebounds and score 10 points a game...

That is a legit NBA team with legit NBA talent and you got the same amount of wins as a team playing Jakarr Sampson and Hollis Thompson...

Nobody thought that the knicks would be championship contenders...but hanging around the 8th seed in the east...yeah that was something realistic...

You don't have 5 wins because you are devoid of talent on your team...you got a team full of veteran players who have proven for years they are NBA level players...

You got 5 wins because Fisher is a horrible coach and you got a guy running the show in Phil who has never had any success outside of getting all time great players over the hump...and Phil doesn't have an all time anything to work with here...

And I don't believe for one second that Fisher gets this gig this year without Kidd getting one last year and having success...I don't think for one second Phil didn't say to himself "well Kidd went from the court to the bench and won a playoff series so Fisher might could do the same thing"

You say Kidd had veterans...uh isn't melo a veteran...isn't smith a veteran...isn't Calderon a veteran...isn't Dalembert a veteran...isn't Amare a veteran...

This team has to many guys on it that have had at least average careers for them to have 5 fukking wins right now

Let's be honest Carmelo was signed so the can still keep fans in seats. By surrounding him with trash they can still tank. He'll probably be dealt 2 years into the deal to a contender (if he's still putting in work). Give Phil time, man wants to be Pat Riley so bad, let him cook and see who he drafts and judge.

On the low that might be the erroneous thing written in this entire thread. Don't get me wrong I agree give Phil time, but the problem with the knicks prior to this was the fact they wanted to copy Miami. They fukked their cap up trying to be Miami.

What Phil is doing right now is something else completely different from what Pat did in Miami. ignoring the fact the two of them can't stand each other. A better argument is Phil wants to do his job better than Riley like he's basically done his entire career.
