What went wrong? Get Down or Lay Down was a solid album. Still listen to some of the songs from it to this day. They had the Neptunes backing them and everything. Were they just too generic or something?

Yeah they kinda sucked, I had the album cos I liked The Neptunes beats from that era.
Cross the Border is still one of my fave Neptune tracks.
They weren't the Neptunes artist signed to their label? I assumed they were.
They were signed directly to Atlantic but Neptunes handled the production on the album. After it flopped sales wise, their ties were severed with both and they even "changed their name". I think they were out too early for the sound the Neptunes tried to give them though. 1 year later and the Clipse were the same thing. Honestly, they should've been the 1st Re-Up Gang.
