So is this what y'all have been telling yourselves to ease the pain? You nikkas still gonna suck.
It's not about easing pain, kid. It's about understanding the economy of the NBA and the value of your team.
We were second in the east two years ago, and what did it do for us? Teams need a certain amount of talent to compete for a championship, and the Knicks don't have it. So I hope they lost every game for the rest of the year. Get a top lottery pick. And make a smart investment with the cap space.
Take the Hawks for example: You guys have made some really sound investments. Horford's deal was steal. Touch-Me is a steal, you signed Milsap at a great price. But what's the next move? You don't have a shot at a major free agent, and you're too good to get a useful pick, AND milsap is back on the market this summer.
So let's say you resign milsap at 11 per (my guess on the market) and you keep Carrol for cheap. Who do you spend the rest on? Is there a wing out there that you think can take your team to the next level? I don't see it. And your best case draft pick is like, RJ Hunter.
The hawks are stuck in "good." Which is fine. Not great, not a contender. But good. Which is something to be proud of.
The Knicks are a rebuild right now, in order to get talent around Carmelo and see if he's the guy. So that's our plan. It's a long con. Nobody is in this thread talking about the knicks 'bout to turn it up' -- reality has settled in. We gotta hibernate. But you get hyped about that first round of the playoffs. Blow some confetti. You deserve it.
