People are getting real funky with these signing ideas.

We should not be signing Rondo under any circumstances.

Jordan doesn't really fit the system, Monroe does but he can't defend at all. David West is an aging veteran who should not get a longterm deal. Wes Matthews is coming off a career-threatening injury.

Let's make sure we know we're addressing players that make sense, rather than just putting together video game rosters.

And dudes are actually out here talking about trading AWAY a first round pick? You might get banned from the thread for that. :snoop:

I quoted five different series, and you picked one to say he's overrated based on percentages... I love when people who don't understand how statistics or sample sizes work show up in threads trying to kick me some maths.

holla. :smugdraper:
He's shot under 45% in 33/53 games playoff games. That's horrible for a 7ft no way around it.

Go after Biyombo and Green. Hopefully trade Carmelo requests a trade after we strike out on all the big name free agents.

Monroe , Danny green and either west or Carroll would be a solid offseason
We can't downplay the effect west could have off the court. He could change the whole culture of the team

We can't make moves based off the euro
He's a project. We gotta build the best team possible in the next two years, many take It from there. Plenty of proven free agents that can help us

Going after the name and not the actual production, and realistically whoever the Knicks sign should be a center. They should not be signing any PFs to long term deals, you have to start Kristaps over the second half of the season, like the Bucks did with Giannis his first year, and the Jazz did with Exum. Throwing the foreigners into the fire early is the only way they make it.

I don't think you have to start Kristaps to get him reps, in fact I'd prefer him leading a second unit where he would be more of a focal point and not be forced to take the backseat to Melo and whomever we bring in. West isn't a long term signing for sure, but on a two year deal he could start for a season and provide the locker room with some leadership (plus a mentor for KP to teach him about toughness in the post) and then move him to the bench when KP is good and ready. West is an intangibles type of addition, you don't spend the cap room on him right away but if you've locked in a second option (and potentially a third as well but conservatively speaking) and want a veteran presence...he makes some sense.

I'd also be looking at a small offer to Biyombo, dude is young and his stats defending at the rim are nice. Could be a good back-up for 15-20 a night without costing us too much (wouldn't go past 3.5 for him).

Can't lie, wouldn't mind finally having some toughness in the paint. And leadership is sorely needed, last good team we had was the one with Kidd, Sheed and them. I think the Knicks underate that aspect too much.

West paired with Monroe is pretty solid IMO. Especially since he can got that Elbow jumper pretty consistently where he'll get a lot of open looks while leaving the paint free for Monroe to operate.

Its critical we sign a three and D guy at the 2 for spacing reasons which is why I think Danny Green is the best fit. I also like the interchangeability that him and Grant can provide on defense...

Also, it's super critical that we bring along Krispy correctly. I'd like him to start by the all star break, with him playing 18-22 minutes out the gate as the 6th man up till then. Gotta build his confidence up and let him prove he belongs before he can improve anything else.

:francis: if hes starting by the all star break, our team isnt very god
i remember the raptors use to force bargs down everybodys throats and make him something he is not
we tried to do it too:francis:

if hes truly the future or whatever, then he will shine on his own and it will show theres no rush, he shouldnt be guaranteed minutes, especially if our free agency goes as planned

There are way too many players connected to the knicks for even half these rumors to be true. Plus after this draft I am pretty certain us fans have no idea what phil is planning to do. Not one trade, or draft pick leaked before it happened plus like always agents use the knicks to drum up interest from other teams.

So I am just going to wait and see what moves phil makes.

Yeah it's pretty tough to tell. I think they'll push for LMA but I buy the Monroe rumors...too consistent and he makes a lot of sense. He's defensively deficient but young and KP projects to be the rim protector in due time...so you'd have your young core at PF and C between them. West fits with Monroe too, so even that rumor couples with it well.

I think a lot of the rest is agents playing up Knicks inquiries. Deandre as a second option makes no sense, Afflalo for 12 million? Who are they even bidding against? Then you have the euro, Wes Matthews, Tobias consideration, Carroll talk, etc...I think the Knicks are just kicking the tires on a lot of different options similar to what they did with the draft where they worked out guys completely out of their range.
