Ya'll knickas need to relax man :heh:

Sign 2-4 players in free agency. Re-sign 4-6 players from last years squad if necessary. Keep Melo healthy. Commit to the defensive end as a team philosophy. Do all that and the knicks will be straight.

So the draft is over, without guessing what trade opportunities will come up, we can at least think about what FA targets we can chase. We have about 26 million to work with in cap space.

My optimistic targets would be West for 8 milli a year for 3 years with an option for the team on that third year. R-Lo for 7 milli for 3 years with a player option (might not get it done, but this is my dream scenario). Then Wes Mathews for 11 million a year for 3 guaranteed. He wants 15 million but I doubt anyone offers that since his injury, 11 might be enough to beat other bidders and assuming he passes a physical, that would be a great value. West and Mathews are both good leaders, R-Lo is the rim protector for the team and Kristaps can be developed slowly without being thrown into the fire.

Galloway/Grant (I actually think Grant can win the starting role but Galloway knows the system so I give him the edge)/Calderon
Wes Mathews/Calderon/Thannasis
Melo/Early/Thannasis
West/Kristaps/Amundson (brought back)
R-Lo/Amundson/Cole Aldrich (or Layberie but doubt he's ready).

That's the optimistic build. A more realistic one would be Monroe for his max and West for around 10 million and then a bunch of our role players re-signed. Though I'd rather go after R-Lo, Koufos or Brandan Wright for less and try to stretch the cap space to fit three vets instead of two. I'd even entertain taking Hibbert of Indy's hands for some picks and try to make him a stop gap at C.
