Honestly, Phil has been making a "rim protector" a main need since the offseason started, so I'm not surprised that he would preserve cap space rather than offer Monroe so much that we were priced out of adding a compliment for him. Robin Lopez makes sense, with all the flexibility you have. Melo can be the 4 next to R-Lo or be the 3 if you get an LMA...not that R-Lo is better than Monroe, but he should be cheaper by a significant amount I think; and the rest of the roster makes more sense with Lopez than Monroe right now (at least until KP develops).

I said its a chance that that is what they are planning to offer. They met with RoLo before they met with LMA, if they could get him to agree to take a paycut to come to NY to play with LMA and Melo that would be a decent bid to LMA to maybe take a paycut too. Would it work, idk but its probably the best plan Phil has.

Also Woj says they didn't offer Max so I am going with that version until he says different.
