It’s not a reach. The caption in the IG post in OP he’s asking fans to not purchase the reprint and to stop streaming their albums. No shyt he’s not talking to fans who already own the music, but those looking for a reprint or who use streaming, he’s asking them to stop. So please tell me how that’s a reach?

Phonte already said that besides The Listening And The Minstrel Show, LB owns the rights to all their material. So Chitlin Circuit, Get Back, May The Lord Watch, all Pooh’s Solo material and all Phonte’s solo material plus all the work he’s done with Foreign Exchange, they eat off all of that. Fans can stream, buy, and listen (no pun intended) to their heart’s content.

TWO albums are what they are asking fans not to buy or stream at this time. Due to them as ARTISTS being fukked over. If you care about Little Brother as artists its not a huge sacrifice to take a stand by boycotting. ABB obviously is making a profit seeing as they are on a SECOND reprint of the vinyl. So if Phonte and Pooh want to take this tactic to get what they are owed they are well within their rights

I assume that @aceboon is saying that LB didn't tell their fans not to listen to them at all. There's a ton of projects they own themselves.

May The Lord Watch, Chitlin Circuit 1, 1.5, Getback, Leftback, Gangsta Grillz Separate But Equal, And Justus For All, literally all of Phonte's solo catalogue and Foreign Exchange catalogue, all of Big Pooh's solo catalogue, and all of 9th Wonder's catalogue.

They're asking people not to support the vinyl repress, and, if they wish, maybe not streaming as much of The Listening.

BTW this isn't some indefinite thing. The idea is to leverage Beni B into paying them. They also aren't stupid enough to think that all their fans will suddenly stop streaming the first album, and that we'd all just never stream it again forever.

edit: @Ziggiy beat me to it

What bridges did Phonte burn that y'all speak of? Granted he can come off somewhat arrogant or diva-ish at times but what specifically did he do?
Dudes just be saying anything on here without a shred of proof. He still gets props from his peers, he's on features with multiple generations of rap from legends, rappers from his era, and then the new generation, and on top of that he's getting TV money. Phonte is straight.

It is a reach, @Ziggiy & @TheDarceKnight summed it up perfectly

I have my problems with 9th but this is a wild accusation. 9th built his studios and labels off Jay and Destiny’s Child royalties. That’s where the bread was. I seriously doubt he saw way more from LB sales.

Dude literally thanked the "fans" and said "everybody that's been supporting Little Brother over the years". Around this same time, I was around Pooh and Khrysis, and both of them were speaking about how Phonte and Pooh weren't ever paid for the albums, but 9th was thanking people for helping him build studios based on supporting those same Little Brother albums. That doesn't have anything to do with his track for Hov or Destiny's Child. He was talking about support from the group's fans.

As I get older I realize 9th wonder is probably an ass hole who's best producing days are behind him. He can still make a great beat every now and again but he is kinda stale now. He also put so much of his time and energy into his girlfriend Rapsody that all the other acts on his label suffered. The more I learn about him the more I get disgusted and disappointed.

I'm not blaming 9th behind LB not getting paid but just speaking on him leaving the group.

Pooh went to 9th multiple times to ask him to come to the table with ABB, because he wasn't getting paid for those albums. He was under the impression that the group was getting jerked by them. Turns out, that only him and Phonte weren't being paid and 9th was. 9th never said anything. When they found out about that, they both reached out and asked dude to hit them about the situation. 9th was ghost for months. When they finally heard from him again about it, he said he was quitting the group. He wouldn't even take their calls anymore. So Pooh and Phonte had to scramble to get solo work out, just to pay their bills. They were releasing old music as new projects, just to stay afloat. They wouldn't see dude again for like 11 years. Industry Rule #4080.

It’s not, they just summed it up - stop listening to those albums.
You framed it as “telling your fans not to listen to you”. That’s your exact quote, and it’s either incorrect or misrepresenting what they said. They didn’t just make a blanket statement for their fans not to listen to them at all. It was way more nuanced.

I’m real curious if we ever worked together at any point. I’m positive we had to have been in some studios together, or at the very least at some live shows together.

Bro. No, I didn’t make that nuanced argument because the crux of my first post in here wasn’t even about that. It’s about fans inability to fight these fights for them. Whether they abstain from the music or not doesn’t affect the fight for control
