The biggest reason is kids have people in their ears telling them not to play outside because of their knees. That was the most common reason it seemed at least for the college kids.
I drive by playgrounds in D.C. and B-More all the time and see empty courts.. It was never like that when I was younger.. But gyms are filled to the brim all spring and summer with AAU teams at every age level, so I guess the game has just evolved to being more organized...

FOUL HIM
!!!, "
, but pickup ball (with the younger brehs) is not what it used to beThat's true...
Society has just changed also.. When I was 8 my mom would send me to the store on my bike for cigarettes or let me leave the house at 9 in the morning and not come back until it was dark.. We were everywhere doing everything.. Hopping on city buses and the whole nine..No cell phones, Amber alerts or nothing.. I couldn't imagine letting my kids loose like that..Everything they do is organized and supervised...

wait a minute, playing on outside is harder on the knees then indoors? WTF? my knees are achey as hell nowadays and i logged a few trips around the globe playing on blacktops.
i see it everyday and everywhere around L.A.
