Detroit
Detroit is open to the idea of moving him. If an offer like that is on the table I would expect they'd seriously consider it. Especially if they're still planning on moving Reggie.

This year's Brooklyn pick won't be moved unless they get a Jimmy Butler or Paul George in return. If Detroit wants that for Drummond then Ainge can go rob Hennigan of Vucci instead.

Jonas is a younger version of Aaron Baynes who's already on the roster. Cory Jo adds little and draft picks in the 20s has zero value in the NBA. You don't trade valuable players unless you get one back or a lottery pick. Pistons still have a young core. I see Reggie being on the block actively, I don't think Dre is getting shopped, teams are coming to us

you have to be realistic. they're not getting the brooklyn pick for Drummond. they can use it as a starting point, to negotiate for what they actually want from boston. but if boston gives that pick up for a flawed not-quite-two-way player that you can't trust to finish games...

i mean, does that sound like the type of player you give up the potential #1 pick for?
Of course Drummond isnt worth a #1 pick, but on the flip side, what can the Celtics realistically offer that makes trading Drummond away so enticing? If Detroit doesn't get back another decent big man in return, then they're essentially entering pulling the plug on the season and entering into ANOTHER rebuild. I dont think any Pistons fan wants to sit through another few years of losing, hoping they find another franchise player. So if im Detroit, i need either a capable big back +extras, or a pick thats good enough to land me that franchise guy right away, so i dont have to go through a full rebuild again.

All of this is why i dont think a trade is actually happening though....

Edit: and Drummond is still 23 with plenty of potential, so even if he's been underwhelming so far and not worth the first overall pick, he still shouldn't go for cheap.

I just don't ever see him being a weapon on offense

If he's the guy you're building around you're not going anywhere

I'm not saying I'd just give him up but if you got back a lot you'd have to do it

Let's say the Celtics gave you a young player or two and one of the Nets picks you have to take it

Pistons right now are stuck in the NBA treadmill going nowhere. Either rebuild or make a move for a star which they don't have the assets to

I'm not trading a 23 year old big man with his potential...

No guarantee the top pick you get is even as good as Drummond...

I guess this applies to Paul George too then? Or Dwade post Shaq? Or Kobe post Shaq? We could go on and on here

If you think tying a record to one player makes sense, then I don't know what to tell you. We would be bottom feeders without Jimmy right now

Also, Jimmy has legitimately gotten remarkably better every season and still continues to do so. Saying he's maxed out is laughable

And Jimmys skillset is ALOT more relevant right now than Drummonds lmao. He's the dying breed and being passed yearly by more diverse big men

PG had potential to be a superstar 3 years ago but he's settled into what he is today, a good player. Kobe and Wade post Shaq didn't play with NBA talent, Bulls fans thought Chicago was gonna contend with Cleveland this year (lol), can't play that game with me. I'm under no delusions about the Pistons

You think very highly of the Bulls roster outside of Jimmy lmao

Even if that is how you feel, Jonas is still 6 years younger and a much better player. Joseph adds depth behind Ish Smith if the Pistons go through with moving Reggie.

Let's not act like a pick in the 20s isn't more valuable this year than some mid-first/late lottery picks in most other drafts. There will be guys like Swanigan, Thomas Bryant, Adebayo all available in the 20s.

trading drummond is beyond stupid

how many legit centers in the league has his size and athleticism? he might struggle on d now but he has all the tools to be a monster on defense with his length, strength, hops, and mobility

svg is ass if he can't turn that into a perrenial dpoy candidate

Andre Drummond has the sort of talent and potential that would tell you trading him is a bad idea, but he hasn't lived up to expectations in quite awhile. He's essentially an elite rebounder and not much else. This could be good for Detroit depending on what they can get for him. He or RJ have to go.

Drummond plays when he wants to and needs SVG to dog him to play defense(still doesnt but atleast he runs back now). He gets mad at himself when he misses a bunny he mentally takes himself out the game...its infuriating, thats why its hard to watch them this season.

He's soft as shyt but i want more than a fukking pick for him :dahell:

Drummond is DEFINITELY being shopped. The "young core" the Pistons have is flawed and honestly I don't see much upside. Reggie is who he is...KCP will always be a streaky 3 and D guy who struggles to create his own offense because he can't dribble. Stanley is a tweener who isn't skilled enough to be dynamic offensively and isn't big and athletic enough to be dominant on the other end. Drummond has absolutely zero feel for the defensive end...anticipating and rotating...he's an outstanding rebounding big with serious flaws in his game at both ends.
