I see the potential in Gamepass and have kept my eye on it closely. Gamepass is good for what it is right now, it isn't quite a system seller but it could be. The issue I have with it is that GAAS does not interest me at all, multiplayer games don't really interest me. I am a single player gamer 90% of the time(I will play ESO and Diablo 3 from time to time). Gamepass for the most part RIGHT NOW doesn't cater to me as a single player gamer because many of the games on there I have already played and the games are still a ways away.

I believe Gamepass will be a great deal for people who like multiplayer games where they can constantly sell you map packs and cosmetic DLC's(Halo, Gears, Warframe, etc.) and I believe that is the lane Microsoft is going to pursue. Sony caters to me as a gamer though, single player experiences with strong stories and narratives to go along with it. Sony and Microsoft have their lanes, just like Nintendo does. They really aren't in competition with each other as much as y'all think. I would love for Microsoft to eventually prove me wrong and release a bunch of high quality single player experiences and put them on Gamepass day one, but the chances of that happening are slim because games like that are hard to monetize. They will make a lot of money in the lane they are going, and Sony will in theirs.

“I’m gonna buy all my multiplatform on xbox and exclusives for sony”

Can’t live with it, can’t live without it.

They just have a weird inferiority complex

Good games are good games, hell, I am wearing a playstation shirt today. Y'all miss the point usual. I don't play consoles, I play games. That's why I own 'failed' consoles like the Dreamcast and Wiiu. I've spent over a grand in mobile gaming over the years. Who doesn't buy a Nintendo console for Nintendo games? The premise to your point is that that is another Jim Ryan special as in who cares about older games. A lot of us do, that's why it is smart to get exclusive games on ps consoles and other games on Xbox. I've had three new computers since I bought crysis 1 on steam. It's still pretty nice that my new pc can still play it just fine.

Where are the creative chances to take so that we can, at the very least, interact with a franchise in a different way like halo wars or gears tactics. Those aren't AAA games but they are fun. Where is the franchise from two generations or beyond that will get the AAA treatment like perfect dark. Where is the AA game getting upgraded to the AAA treatment like hellblade. We can even do it on a smaller scale like expansions like Hot Wheels with Forza Horizon 3 and Legos with Forza Horizon 4. What happens when Kratos dies in Ragnarok? Are they going to allow Santa Monica a chance at a new IP or will they be forced to continue with Kratos' son in Norse mythology or will Kratos dip out and be in Egypt somewhere with those gods.

This point of the matter is this, no company existing has a well that never dries. Some take longer than others. Simplifing the games made to just AAA games alone is the issue as the games made will be far and few between. That is the issue.

Thats an interesting point, I don’t game like i used to, but i was a multiplayer gamer, and for me Gamepass allows me to play single player games again since I don’t like the idea of paying full price for a game I will only play once.

Even games like Ori or even TLOU that are highly regarded, I wouldn’t buy because replay value is big for me. Having GP allowed me to play Ori witch is very good, but I would still never buy. I haven’t bought a sports game in like 7 years, but ill have access to the new madden, 2k, fifa, and the show. Games I enjoy but don’t buy anymore, its bringing me out of gaming retirement. The social aspect of being able to find a new game to play with friends is dope too. browsing GP with friends finding shyt to try, laughing at the duds and getting hooked on others.

For me even if Playstation had a gamepass the value still wouldn’t be there even if exclusive games dropped day one. I think its a bad move for sony to try to compete in this lane and also its a mistake to not do anything.

We are 3 moves into a chess game and Xbox is positioning itself to take the queen soon, of course this all depends on these new studios producing good games, more specifically some very good game of the year type single player games.

its crazy seeing golks say where are the games with GP, what major non sony games isnt on GP, i can only think of COD.:jbhmm:

Sony Interactive Entertainment is working on “a counterpunch” to Microsoft’s popular Xbox Game Pass service, a former senior developer has claimed.

That’s according to God of War creator and Twisted Metal co-creator David Jaffe, who claims to have spoken to a number of sources within PlayStationabout the company’s plans to respond to the popularity of Microsoft’s subscription service.

Looks like gamepass won’t be the only game rental service in town
This is what competition in the space leads to. Disney+ showed them they way. The back catalog is available at the monthly fee and new games can be added for $30 on top of the monthly fee. After a window of say a year they add the $30 games into the normal catalog. They'll make a killing.

I'm not sure this is a good idea as it will inevitably lead to something inferior to Gamepass for a similar price. :yeshrug:
It doesn't need to be equal to Game Pass to be a good value for PlayStation gamers. I'd go all digital in a heartbeat if they follow the Disney+ model.

Will be hard to follow Disney+ cause games don’t come in episodes. Without a steady stream of new content it’s hard to keep people from dropping in and out just to play one game.

Sony has a game library equivalent to the Disney vault if they decide to focus on legacy titles, which the patent suggest they are doing by adding trophy support.

If people can play all their favorite PSX-PS3 games on it, they will probably throw a parade for Jim Ryan. Thats essentially what disney has survived on in addition to the mandalorian and two marvel shows.

What's stopping them from bringing in such content? Disney had stuff like Soul that was a new movie and included but stuff like Raya that was a new movie and cost the extra $30. It's simply an evolution of PSNow into a much better service. The tools are already there. They need to merge PS+, PSNow and follow the Disney+ model and I guarantee it blows up. They can even leverage other assets like Crunchyroll and Funimation or whatever Streaming service they own or would look to start into it and make it a Sony Media pass.

The possibilities are endless but first then need to be willing to explore them.
