Such a beautifully shot episode. Manousos’ trek through the Darién all the while Carol’s sat with an endless supply of fireworks trying to make the most of an empty world and slowly but surely cracking from loneliness.:mjcry:

Impressed with the way the show is having the audience sit with these characters chewing up the scenery in isolation for a bulk of the runtime, in what would be multiple episodes now. Totally get it if folks find it boring and there were times where those drags hit me, too. Though overall, I really like this decision as it transports me into the characters’ headspace with the way they’re feeling. And no, I’m not saying that just because it’s Vince. Not many other shows are doing this, for better or worse.

My biggest concern is that there are only two episodes left and the last few minutes here felt like we finally got some semblance of progression on the story front. I appreciate the journey, the character building, but it’s go time. This is where I’ll give Gilligan the benefit of the doubt to wrap the season up in a grand way and would be sounding off those alarms had it otherwise came from a Joe Schmoe creative.

Yeah, those scenes with Manousos traveling throughout the countryside were beautiful :wow: . He really pushed himself to the brink, until it looked like he had no other option.

And likewise Carol reached her breaking point in isolation with no human/alien contact :mjcry:. It really is a testament to Rhea and the actor that plays Manousos they are able to carry scenes solo like that.

And nice reversal of expectations with thinking that maybe the episode would end with him reaching her, but instead it was you know who pulling up in the car.

They finally got me hooked seeing as they mentally broke Carol and the other non affected person in this episode still doesn't like the hivemind. I'm intrested to see how this plays out :lupe: Prior to this episode I damn near forgot about this show until a seen a recap video of ep7 on my youtube front page.

Are they still looking for a way around the whole sample from the hip shyt? I imagine they would be.

Is there only function to exist? If they infect everybody else, then what do they do?

Of course the latin town he passed has no fukking washing machines, of course Peru also has cars from the fukking 60s, of course he is learning english using fukking tapes. Has the showrunner ever visited a fukking latin america country? :wtf:

And thank god he passed out, the idea of someone crossing a giant south america jungle with no guide was beyond suspension of disbelief, those jungles are bigger than some countries....BUT why the fukk did he needed to go through the jungle anyway, believe it or not you can get from Panama to New Mexico by fukking driving, does this dude think south American highways end at a jungle in panama? :wtf:

I think I mentioned it before but they are pretty much using the DENNIS system on Carol :mjlol:

Was defending this show in the first few eps but holy shyt, the pace is complete garbage.

You actually can't drive from Colombia to the U.S. because of the Darien Gap, which completely shrouds the border between Panama and Colombia. It's almost completely inhospitable, and there are no roads you can use to cross it. The area where all those abandoned belongings from migrants were lying on the ground was real.

This show is fukking brilliant.
Cinematography is unreal.

The Darrien Gap has intruiged me since I was a child, and Vince puts it in a show, in a random episode.

Tonights episode is like a brilliant silent film. This is going down as some all time Sci Fi when its all said and done. :blessed: :blessed:

Nuts to me how people find this slow and boring. Think of it like visiting a gallery. Stop rushing to get things over with, stand still, take a breath, and absorb the art. Gilligan is slow cooking :wow:

This critique reminds me of everybody hating on Andre 3000's flute album once they realized it's not secretly an entire rap project and actually just a flute album. We're expecting a different type of show than it was ever even presented as and mad that it's not being something it never said it was :manny:
