Never saw anything this horrific in China, but not shocking. Not only do the corporations have little respect for the environment, the people don't either. People throw trash anywhere they please. I saw someone throw a hot dog and wrapper on top of human remains preserved at the Nanjing Holocaust Museum.

:to:

And people constantly threw trash overboard when I took a several day boat cruise down the Yangtze to see the Three Gorges.

fukking pathetic country.

:snoop: If you believe china is libertarian in any way, I feel sorry for you...
I dunno man, its pretty lawless here. You can open up a liquor store out your condo and have an 11 yr old deliver it and no one would bat an lid.

as for the health/pollution. man Im sure ive shaved 5-10 yrs off my lifespan living here. :to:

True, but what percentage of Beijing does that represent?
If perhaps 10% or 20 or even 30% of Beijing was like this, then yea ok we got a problem that needs fixing.
But until then, we just gotta clean up our act a little. Recycle more and buy less packaged shyt.

10 percent you're talking 1.5 million people. 20 you're talking 3.

30 you're talking 4.5, still bigger than any metropolis area in america besides New York or LA.

As a Hong Konger, I agree. Money is top dog.

Reflections of a nation bent on economic domination.
However.. by selecting the collectively worst parts of the pollution, people are going to assume that ALL of China is like this. Which, frankly speaking, is wrong. Bordering on propaganda brehs.

Imagine if I made an article about American problems and only put the southern rednecks and savaged innercity neighbourhoods and flooded New Orleans areas and chemical plants pumping shyt into lakes, and other fukked up shyt.

These places exist, but most of us don't live near those places. It's a shame there's not ENOUGH regulations to check these things but as China advances, there will be.

Capitalism has no Moral Basis...

I'll never forget the story of a friend who lived in China who saw street food vendors washing dishes with gutter water.
