no.

and i just asked AI.

The origins of blues music can be traced back to the late 19th century in the Deep South of the United States, where it evolved from African American work songs, spirituals, and folk music. It is believed that no single person invented the blues, but many people were instrumental in its development, including minstrel show bandleader W.C. Handy, Jelly Roll Morton, Ma Rainey, and Henry Sloan.

That literally backs up what I said, I took a class for this exact subject in high school mang, History of Contemporary American Music. And who do you think taught the slaves the christian influences in the Spirituals, and as well as folk music? Work songs

There are Islamic influences as well, since 30% of slaves brought to north america were muslim. esp in the Work songs, that part may infact be all African. But to discount the fact white christian culture forced upon us was nonexistent is just incorrect.

Gospel music has a lot of connections to call and recall when slaves were in the fields. Some historians have also pointed out the similarities that it shared with the Muslim call to prayers in West Africa.

Of West African Sufi chants/songs.

First of all Jazz music is the Blues. There is literally no difference.

Second of all African societies also had classical music. The harp, flute and lyre were around thousands of years ago in Egypt. Additionally the Empire of Mali also had classical music and paid professional musicians going back generations playing instruments like the Kora, balafon and the forerunner of the banjo. So the slaves brought all that musical knowledge from their homelands and they forged the different music's together. White people had never heard any of that type of music before encountering Black people.
You noticed how documentaries about the origins of music stopped airing? I wonder if they're waiting for baby boomers to die out before re-writing history

He's popular with younger people mostly. Not pushing back will result in people repeating said lie until it becomes "fact", even in the face of contradicting evidence.

I'm familiar enough with Destiny and the streamer space to know that claiming he's as popular as Joe Rogan is insanity.

When it comes to younger people... Most younger people that are familiar with streaming platforms do NOT know Destiny like that or even fukk with political content heavy. They might have heard the name, especially with the recent controversy when he went at Black streamers in another of his stupid rants, but that's it.

And I'm strictly talking about young people that watch streams, which is another minority of younger people altogether. He has a relatively strong fanbase, but it's a tiny drop in the bucket when it comes to the massive amount of media consumed by young folks.

So no, whatever weirdo take he has won't be repeated until it becomes a fact. And again, by clicking on the tweets themselves, you can see that he got almost nothing but pushback, just like everytime he does the same number.

But if yall want to be alarmed at every blue haired stupid tweet on the internet, be my guests :hubie:

He fukked up claiming that 99 percent was copied from European classical music. There's clearly some level of influence from classical music in jazz and blues but it's not the main influence, and it also sounds like he believes Europeans invented music and weren't influence by the sounds from other cultures.

This cac claims he studied music in college, he should know better.

Both those genres have a portion of influence from white christian culture black people converted to. The Fisk Jubilee Singers for example had a number of their songs written by Stephen Foster, a white man, while most of their music from Slavery work songs and older spirituals. As we converted to christianity, we combined those influences with traditional african traditions and created something new, revolutionized music.

African American music is derived from their experiences in the new world, it is not African. It is American.
African American music came with the slaves. It is a fusion of musics that covered the Sahel, Forest Belt and Central African arts. Drumming was eventually curtailed due to their connections to slave revolts. Gospel music by and large comes from call and recall. There are also connections to West Africa Muslim calls to prayers. The Dr. Watts stuff is a classic example of call and recall that is the basis of Gospel music. You can hear the West African calls to prayers in that sound. Dr. Watts didn't create that music, but he took credit for it. Most Gospel songs go way back to field hollers but have gotten reworked over the years for contemporary audiences.

The shyt White people contributed is what they did for Country music and Rock and Roll. Those were Black musical art forms that White people try to take credit for.

This kind of reasoning implies African Amrtican Slaves had no cultural musical influences from Africa. Like they were musical clean slates.
That is literally what alot of internet ass muhfukkas were saying when they were on this same debate with Caribbeans and Africans

No, he's not on the level of Rogan but he is still popular and even more, popular enough to attract people like the netizens of 4cac and so on. Things like this is shyt they weaponize against black people to help spread their white supremacist message and we all are aware of the reach 4cac has. This is the issue I'm having. Who they are spreading this message to and how it can be weaponized and utilized is important. How many times have we seen people complain, both in general and on here, about racist memes and the spread of said memes. How did they spread? Rogan wasn't spreading them yet here we are.

It's mixed, yes there was influence from european music styles but you can't forget the actual african influences.

Europe has no history of creating any type of music. Even folk music has African origins. Classical music has its origins in Africa.

The only thing they used were European instruments which are African instruments that Europeans modernised, from flutes, to drums, to guitar, to trumpets, to sax, to piano, etc.

Hopefully, one day, there will be a thread to show the origins of these instruments.
