Herd immunity, which requires 60%+ of the population to have been infected and recovered, of whom 1-5% will die (depends on how well its managed the US is currently looking more towards the 5% end).
5% of 60% of the population of USA is 10 million people. Hell even if it’s 1% you are looking at 2 million Americans dead. Our healthcare system would collapse instantly and that would be economically destroy the country when bodies start dropping and our healthcare system cease to exist. Either way there will be economic pain no matter what we do. However a collapsed healthcare system would turn America into a 3rd world country when other people die of corona and other preventable disease. The bodies pile up. Heat attacks, strokes, cancer, car accidents, stabbings, gunshot wounds,infections,etc. it would be a nightmare this country would never recover from.

What we're running is built off a facade. Political and economic system is broken and it took a pandemic to reveal how deeply flawed our capitalist based economy is. You can only siphon money to a fraction of the ultra rich and neglect the ppl for so long....
