People are saying facebook, twitter and youtube are blocked in Turkey :lupe: not confirmed by anywhere credible yet

on bbc earlier they were saying that the coup was just by a small part of the military, now they're saying that the military has taken control? can someone clear this up for me?

I never gloated about Nice. Attacks on civilians are always awful and should be avoided--but let's not act like France is above slaughtering innocent people. Even the briefest once over of their colonial history proves that pretty convincingly.
My initial reaction in this thread, which I already said was knee-jerk, was trying to say that we shouldn't think of geopolitics as entertainment, or describe geopolitics as if it were entertainment...obviously the point was badly made.
I went to school with quite a bit of Turkish kids and was close with a few of them, so the prospect of civil war or strife there doesn't exactly excite me.
I am also leery that this entire coup is yet another attempt by the West to silence an unreliable world leader and replace him with a complete lackey, a la Iran.

Obviously France the State has not been above that historically. I don't think it's too difficult a concept though to separate the historical actions of France the State with 2016 French citizens. Apparently it was for many in that other thread though.

Not saying you personally were gloating about it.
