All of a sudden you're spending all your money trying to avoid being on the streets. Slowly but surely you're gonna lose everything, including your job. And then what? You don't have a phone for long periods of time, you don't have an address, you're running out of money and can't take showers at the gym anymore. How are you getting another job? If you get a job, how do you keep it with no transportation and no home? If you magically keep the job, how do you save enough money to afford a downpayment on a new apartment? Worse yet how you even getting approved with an eviction on your record?
Oh I’m not saying the “system” plays no role, but those numbers aren’t all due to the system. Some of us have made bad choices that will lead to poverty for people of any race. If you know you are poor, having a child isn’t going to improve your situation, and not the kid is poor too. It is if you are 40+ and born after 1965All the adults I know who are struggling are experiencing the results of their own decisions. Poverty isn't hard to avoid. 89% of adults have figured it out.
We're looking at aggregate data. Millions of people. Just about anywhere you go in the world higher poverty rate correlates with a higher birthrate. That isn't a coincidence and expecting black Americans to be immune from that phenomenon isn't helpful.
