Ivey and Duren are Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond 2.0 and we would have gotten a star for them a decade ago but we ‘ran it back’. Don’t fukk up again. Ship those nikkas out
I disagree but who would you trade for?

It’s time to throw all thoughts about “running it back” out the window. The East can be had and right there there’s a slim margin between winning the east and fighting for the damn play in. Cade is going into year 5, that means he’s not a young player anymore. This is prime time, let’s go
2 years ago this was the worst team in the NBA and there’s been some improvement there. They don’t need to pull some late stage Dumars desperate trade trying to swing for the fences. if a great deal is there sure look at it but if nothing amazing materializes just run it back.

I don't even think it's just "running it back". Your potential 2nd leading scorer missed about half the season right around the time your best defender was actually coming back to the team. This current team, with a bunch of youth, hasn't even got a chance to see what it looks like together under a competent coach. Add a piece or 2 and let's see what that looks like, then adapt and adjust is my preferred approach, unless of course a sweetheart deal comes knocking at the door.

Complacency is the devil. Ivey and Duren are about to be paid, you have to make a decision on them regardless. There’s no kicking that can down the road. With the Celtics, Pacers and Bucks off the board next year, there’s a wide open opportunity to strike and do it when there’s maximum flexibility to do so. Difference between this and Dumars is that Dumars spent the next four years after 2004 sucking his own dikk and made terrible draft picks. That’s not the case here. Pistons have their young stars in Thompson and Holland who won’t have to be paid for years to come to supplement Cade. That’s our youth. I want us to make that move because if we don’t one of our rivals will

Pistons are 8th in eastern conference odds now, there’s a decent chance we’re in the play in next year because while Ivey did get hurt but the East was ravaged with injuries to the point where our injuries was a wash. What does signing Naz Reid or Santi Aldana win us

I think you strike while the iron is hot. Cleveland is a paper tiger and Garland is out for at least 6 months. Pacers, Celtics, Bucks all have major issues. Knicks have no coach and the Pistons really should've won that series if you ask me.

Why can't the Pistons come out the East next year? Pistons can play with anyone in the East.

The best teams were built over time not some on the fly rebuild of another regime's rebuild. Are you looking for success right now in a small window or are you looking to build a contender longer term? You're talking about a team that was the NBA worst 2 years ago going from that to coming out of the east in 3 years? I think those expectations are extremely high.

I don't think there's seeing answers. Nobody really knows. I don't necessarily care about the odds, seeing as how the odds had them winning less than 25 games last year. The east is much more ravaged now with injuries going into next season than it was this season. 3 of the top 5 teams just lost their best or 2nd best player for the season. I don't see 7 teams being above them, especially under those circumstances. That means 3 of those 5 teams that just lost those players would possibly still be better than them AND or 2 or more other teams leaping over them. I just don't see that :yeshrug:

I don't think think they should just come back with the exact same roster, but even an addition of players like Aldama or Naz are upgrades if it doesn't involve sending significant players out. The results of this season and the way the cba is currently shows that depth matters. Look at the 2 teams in the finals. Roster cohesion, team synergy and internal growth and player development are real things and routes to team improvement. Swinging for home runs isn't the only way to be successful. It can get you in a Blake Griffin/Dame Lillard or you can make hasty decisions to trade young players and gift wrap a Kris Middleton to another team. I'm not saying that that making a big move can't have positive results, but it's certainly not without risk and other approaches that can have guys results as well. I just think the way you even posed that question is completely dismissive of that any other approach being a route to success. But I'm down to have a legit discussion about it. I just don't look at things in the sensational sports radio host view only (that ain't saying you do, just fyi).

OKC won 24 games 3 years ago. When it's your time, it's your time. Why can't the Pistons win 55 games next year?

Woah now:hubie: Don't dismiss the possibility of them seeing those kind of results. I don't think getting there takes some huge leap of faith. They are on the cusp of contention right now. It's why I don't think a huge change is the only way for them to get there. I also understand a big change can put the on a whole other tier of success.

East is so damn weak. Magic made there move to move up the standings. Raptors acquired Ingram for next year. 76ers should be back and have top 3 pick. Pistons turn now. These trams could pass up pistons. Even Hornets, Hawks, Bulls could all turn it around. Signing Naz Reid seems safest option. Just have to get out of fontecchio contract to sign him without losing anyone. Could see Turner testing FA market despite the season they just had. Haliburton is out all next year. Indy not a real contender without him. Not sure langdon is a big Duren fan.

Going to work pistons were built on the fly. Ben came into his own. Tayshaun and Okur were only drafted players that contributed bigtime. Chauncy was an underachieving FA PG. Rip for Stack seemed like a steal for Wizards at the time. Sheed acquired at deadline. And while they had sustained success, They got their chip at the start of the run

OKC figured out their core and made moves accordingly. Josh Giddey was their second leading scorer 2 years ago and was up for a new deal and they decided to trade him for a championship role player. A Dumars mistake would be thinking your core is 6-7 guys. It would be holding onto guys so many years too late where they become a salary dump. Both of those things gotta sound very familiar to you.

Nah, impulse trades are not worth it for this team, I’d rather we wait run it back then see what it looks like at the deadline. Maybe grab a THJ type player now, resign Beasley and Schroeder. Unless JJJ becomes available for a reasonable return or some shyt it’s not worth it now.

I’m saying that what we won’t do, other teams will and pass us up. Jaden Ivey has shown to be closer to Stuckey/Reggie Jackson than he is a franchise cornerstone we drafted him to be. That’s still a pretty good player in his prime and valuable to someone. There’s been a slew of stars traded the past year and I wouldn’t let Ivey get in the way of one.
