I think they're both gonna be $499 minimum. You got a solid GPU alongside a much better CPU this time around. Not to mention whatever SSD they've managed to put in there. If they're taking a loss, I doubt they're willing to take too much of one.

Your thoughts?

Dudes got a lot more faith in Sony to make that $449 price point than I do. I agree it'd be the sweet spot but this ain't cheap hardware you're getting in there. The SSD they put on it isn't even on the market currently. CPU is damn near current Ryzen-gen equivalent. I really think those were the main things (being cheap) allowing them to reach $399 the first time around. I think at $499, they're already taking a good loss on it. Not even gonna bring up the GPU. It's a reasonable price for what you're getting.

But if they can manage $449 for optics sake, good on them.

Sony will price PS5 at $399 and recoup the cost through subscriptions.

Series X will be $499 and Lockhart will be $299

499 MSRP with Sony/MSFT trying to sweeten the pot and offer a bundle with a game during the holidays, effectively making them 439.99
I think this + DS4 being compatible (don't know if this has already been ruled out) will be their way of offsetting the cost for the consumer
