It’s mayors and county executives that appoint most police chiefs and negotiate collective bargaining agreements with police unions. It’s district attorneys and state’s attorneys that decide whether or not to investigate and ultimately charge those involved in police misconduct. Those are all elected positions. In some places, police review boards with the power to monitor police conduct are elected as well. Unfortunately, voter turnout in these local races is usually pitifully low, especially among young people — which makes no sense given the direct impact these offices have on social justice issues, not to mention the fact that who wins and who loses those seats is often determined by just a few thousand, or even a few hundred, votes.

Don’t vote brehs

:unimpressed:

And a lot of local elections aren’t even on people’s radars. I’ll admit I used to only pay attention to the general elections.

I hope a lot of you complaining about what Obama did or didn't do actually vote in your local elections.

That has way more of an immediate impact than anything the federal government will do for you.
Which is what Obama is saying and mafukkas instead of reading saying "bu bu but he had 8 years" :damn:

GRAND CLOSING

Its called politics for a reason...the right wanted more egregious laws but this was the compromise because stuff was getting blocked.

If anyone of you were president you would have to play the game as well...if you didnt you wouldve been dead

#ADOS
Funny how when #ados says this must be a political movement, everybody sides with Tariq and his explicitly apolitical fba, but when Obama say it, yall all ":krs: :salute:".

Also, this is what voting down ballot means: voting locally. :coffee:

Obama pops up when it's safe and he's a democrat first, black second. This is more of a get trump out of office thing than anything. This is the same guy that overthrew the Libyan government for white daddy and threatened Kenya over lgbt rights.

I have no problem with what he's saying here... I have a problem with what he didn't do..

Digital Lynchings are part of his legacy. It wasn't a big enough priority for him to address forcefully.

I'm sure if you got him in a private moment, even he would admit he failed and didn't do enough.

But it's our fault for just being "happy to be there" and not applying enough pressure on him. We allowed our celebrity class to speak for us. And as long as they were getting the invites to the parties, they weren't going to rock the boat.

I don't think a person who had 8 years to reform police should be saying here's how we can reform police but the way Trump is handling the whole thing I'd rather hear from Obama

did you even read what he wrote?:gucci:

But the elected officials who matter most in reforming police departments and the criminal justice system work at the state and local levels.

It’s mayors and county executives that appoint most police chiefs and negotiate collective bargaining agreements with police unions. It’s district attorneys and state’s attorneys that decide whether or not to investigate and ultimately charge those involved in police misconduct. Those are all elected positions. In some places, police review boards with the power to monitor police conduct are elected as well. people seem to have amnesia already and have forgotten that the majority republican house of representatives and senate was obstructing him at unprecedented levels. those bootlickers would have never passed police reform legislation.
