Bruh lemme ask... how old are you and how long have you been working at your job? How much do you have saved up?

If you ever got a paycheck or paid your own bills, you'd know saving 30K out of 40K is fukking impossible. Off the rip Uncle Sam is probably taking 10K. Then you have to pay rent, a car note, bills and buy food. If u live in Bumfukk, OK you will still probably have to spend like another 10-15K just to live and work. So at best we are prob talking like 15K a year saved up, living a very no frills shytty life.

All that "do for self shyt" sounds good until nikkas expose themselves. Don't tell nikkas to do shyt you haven't done yourself bruh.

White kids, and asians, do you know what they do after they graduate? Well whites move back home and stack for a year or 2...... Asians some of them move in and dont move out until they get married so they get plenty of stack time... What do black people do? Move out as soon as we of age...thats why we aint never moving forward, just on the hamster wheel until we die.

So you are a student living at home with your parents. Good (seriously).

But I think you should actually wait until you are in the real world on your own.... before telling people how they should be living in the real world on their own.

Anyone acting like that isn't part of the reason is equally pathetic. Still shouldn't be used as an excuse from not succeeding but you'd be a complete clown to act like that isn't a barrier.

Canada in this regard is nothing like the States. Black folk are not running major companies. We aren't in many positions of power. We have to rely on Asians and white people to get a chance. We have good paying jobs but not upper management.

Ain't read all the post but gonna way in off personal experience

To really obtain that type of positioning takes two things. The first is willingness to do a job you don't like just to climb the ladder. I'm not the type of person to take a boring job just for that. I have a homie that switched off about two years ago to do less interesting work then me but crack six figures. He's on the climb, but really, he won't be able to do what he desires too, it just became about money.

The second thing you need is no loyalty whatsoever. Office politics is crazy, shyts like game of thrones year round. Knowing how to finesse the right people and expose ppl who you maybe are at most indifferent about. Not giving a fukk at all. I'm not that way.

Still, if you're good at what you do, you'll slowly get there. I just so happen to be working on a tech industry where most of the ppl already there are old and out dated. When they retire I'm taking their jobs without any of the sacrifice.

I'm currently in my 5th year in Finance. I'm a Credit Analyst II. Junior level, good money, but still a lower rung on the ladder. For me, my limiting belief is that I haven't developed the social skills necessary to take me to the next level. I'm too much of an X's and O's type. I need to show my personality more and take more risks. I need to get more organized, more detailed with my notes. I should be going to toastmaster meetups, attending Manager conferences, networking, volunteering. Putting myself out there. Taking full advantage of company paid continuing education. I've spent the last 3 years dreaming of being my own boss but my C- grade work ethic is evident that I'm not ready yet to run a successful business. Sometimes you have to be brutally honest with yourself before you can move to where you really want to be.

What's holding you back brother?

Are you content at your current level and don't want the additional stress?

Are you concerned that they don't want you at the top? Or that you don't belong?

You don't want to be called a c00n, or less than a man for working hard for someone else?

Other limiting beliefs or just lazy?

Pacing myself and my growth. Its a marathon not a sprint. When I get the position it will be because I am without the shadow of a doubt the best candidate. Hate those people who get jobs they dont know how to do. They lack confidence and leadership.

For the younger professionals out there one of the quickest way to move up is to job from job to job. Often times you might have to take the job in a location no one wants to go in order to move up the ladder and get the titles.

I probably could be a director now if I was willing to move outside of dallas. Had a recruiter hit me up for a director job in Connecticut. But at this time I don't want to move my wife and kids.

But also if it is just the money you want you could do contract work depending on your field and make as much or more than a manager or director. Especially if you are willing to love overseas.

Goodness the amount of money I have been offered tax free to do contract work in China is unreal. Just don't want to move the family there or live there for a couple of years.

But if you technical kats want to make some money wait till the oil market comes back in a year or two. You can get crazy pay out in West Texas or oversees.
