This sounds like it'll be in line with the handheld rumors as well.
which is why the consumer should always have a way to backup their physical copies. It's how I have kept my PS1,PS2 ,and PS3 games on my modded consoles by making images of the discs. Great games will always have a market to sell to specially if they come with new features, like Capcom re-releasing mvsc2 with rollbackDiscs and disc drives have a finite lifetime no matter how hard you try to “preserve” them.
The only real way to preserve games is digitally.
Unless Take Two’s CEO has twisted Rockstar’s arm into making GTA 6 the first of a newly ramped-up installment series then GTA 7 won’t be out until we are playing fully immersible virtual reality. Will that Playstation 6 or a Neuralink chip in your brain?

Even when games get taken down from the digital store. If you own them you can still play and download them at will.
You just can’t buy a new copy. It’s the same with physical games. When they are pulled form the digital store they are also pulled from the physical store.
If a game is pulled from a digital store it is probably rare and/or unavailable to buy used as well.physical has a used market. Hence, you don't have to buy things at the moment...it could be 10-15 years later. I bought a used copy of last of us for my PS3 about 10yrs after it was released.
Everyone has different timelines and don't play everything then and there. Hell, it's a couple of ps1 games I bought within the last year that I didn't try in the late 90s.
Digital creates FOMO and expensive backlogs, imo. Not very consumer friendly.
Not at all. At most it's gonna be priced out the ass.If a game is pulled from a digital store it is probably rare and/or unavailable to buy used as well.
meaning it’s hard to come by.priced out the ass.
