PS5 is mid cycle, why we talking about the PS6?
If you have a SSD formatted as your “home” console you don’t need to log in to play games. If your account "Meachthemonster" which you bought your games on was LOST, and you get a new Xbox and you have to create a new XBL account "Meachthemonster_2", you cannot play those games as the license for those games were bought under the now lost and INACCESSIBLE account.
Microsoft does allow account recovery. Not sure how difficult it is on playstation. But it would be very difficult to actually lose acces to a microsoft account. You're talking about losing the account but playing on a new account on the same console that's set as home console. That's different. That's the only con to to all digital games. What they should allow is if in the case something like this happens, for a person to be able to verify their identify with Microsoft and get the games/licenses transferred to a new account.
Seems as though the ps6 will release within 2 to 4 years. The ps5 was released in 2020, 4 years after the ps4 pro. The ps6 could release in 2028, 4 years after the ps5 pro. 2029 was also rumored. Since there are a bunch of rumors about specs, design, price, etc., that suggests the ps6 will release in 2027 or 2028. 2029 could still be a possibility, though all of these rumors suggest the ps6 will probably release before that.PS5 is mid cycle, why we talking about the PS6?
thinking 2028 personally.Seems as though the ps6 will release within 2 to 4 years. The ps5 was released in 2020, 4 years after the ps4 pro. I was able to do this for an old Xbox account only because I was registered as a dealer account (since I previously worked at a retail store that sold MS products and bought some products directly from them) and after sometime they where able to confirm my email was linked to the original one.but an average joe consumer won't be able to do that . And with PSN I wasn't able to their customer service is Dog shyt. People here are ignoring DRM just to argue physical disks can go console to console with no account limitation. If your account "Meachthemonster" which you bought your games on was LOST, and you get a new Xbox and you have to create a new XBL account "Meachthemonster_2", you cannot play those games as the license for those games were bought under the now lost and INACCESSIBLE account.

Don't understand DRM brehsRead what i posted.
If you format your drive as your “home” console you don’t need to log in to play the games.
You can plug it into any xbox/playstation and play the games.
Saying people are on their last leg is sort of implying they're taking an L by holding on to stuff.Didn’t say anything about an L.
The disc drive is usually the first thing to go.
When that disc drive goes and you can’t find another working one. Your games are dead, unless sony keeps making new disc drives indefinitely into the future.
1. Can you even "backup" PS5 games onto an external drive?Yes you can.
If you go to your playstation right now. Create a backup of your games on an SSD and have that SSD set as your home consoles you NEVER need to log on to play those games again.
You can install that hardrive into another playstation and play the games without logging in.
Are you completely ignoring where I said the account is lost? The account is what's the primary factor here, not the Xbox.If you have a SSD formatted as your “home” console you don’t need to log in to play games.
If you lost/destroy your current xbox, when you plug the SSD into your new xbox it will be your “home” console and you don’t have to log in to use it.
The angle isn't dumb, I've almost lost my account when I got my phone stolen out of the country. I've seen reports of people being unsuccessful in recovering their account. Also this idea of "hundreds of discs" being a pain in the ass to haul around is just as silly, everyone isn't walking around with shelf size amount of game cases/discs. I've only moved all my physical games maybe twice in the past 20 years.Microsoft does allow account recovery. Not sure how difficult it is on playstation. But it would be very difficult to actually lose acces to a microsoft account.
Besides that, this angle is dumb anyway.
You can’t keep up with one password so you think it’s better to have to keep up with dozens/hundreds of discs![]()
He's either just deliberately lying or ignoring where it's being said that this "home console SSD" idea isn't even a real thing since you need the original account. You cannot like you said just throw games on an SSD and play it anywhere on any xbox/playstation without needing to log in. He's just making up stuff at this point I'm afraid. I have a USB drive and an external NVME with some of my PS5 games installed on there. I can't just give it to a random person so that they can then play my games. It's completely ridiculous lol.1. Can you even "backup" PS5 games onto an external drive?
2. What do you mean "have that SSD set as your home console?"
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying but that way I'm reading it, what you're describing is something people could have been doing to sell SSD's for $100 all day to everybody and their mother a make a KILLING. You're telling me you can have a loose SSD with PS5 games installed on it that you can plug into a PS5 and not have to sign in at all to play the games on that SSD?
Was talking about this is probably the last console that will even have a disc drive.Saying people are on their last leg is sort of implying they're taking an L by holding on to stuff.![]()
Dreamcast, saturn, xbox, and PSX are becoming ever difficult to find working.Pretty much every console ever released is readily available online and in local stores, there are a boat load of repair services if a person wanted to go that route as well. (You know this).![]()
We got a LONG way to go before the world becomes "The Book of Eli" and people are sifting through abandoned warehouses in a post apocalyptic world looking for iPods.
Vinyl still has a market and anyone can make records and record players.People collect stuff breh. Some people got rooms full of vinyl records. I don't see any evidence of any of these platforms completely being erased from the market. There's the obvious convenience benefit with digital that can't be overlooked at all, but I'm also willing to bet it comes down to a physical space limitation for a lot of people as well that they typically project with statements like "ain't nobody tryna keep track of all these discs!". Not everyone has a full room they can dedicate to their hobbies or interests. That's a personal limitation though, has nothing to do with the value of keeping stuff or whether or not it makes sense to keep it overall.
1. yes. The SSD on both is plug n play.1. Can you even "backup" PS5 games onto an external drive?
2. What do you mean "have that SSD set as your home console?"

The longer we go, the more difficult it will be.
Like if you own a collection of 8 track tapes, hardware is difficult to come by.
And that’s an open source thing anyone can make.
As sony and microsoft stop manufacturing these things, you won’t be able to find working hardware.
The argument against digital is some dystopian future where sony/microsoft decide to dial into your console and delete your games.
Both of those hypotheticals would be far in the future.
In the case of physical games it is inevitable they will die.
With digital games they can be backed up indefinitely.
Vinyl still has a market and anyone can make records and record players.
It’s the most “physical” of all physical media. You are litteraly listening to the physical grooves on a piece of playstic.
Game disks need proprietary software and hardware to produce and to play back. They are closer to digital media than yall are willing to admit.
You need sony and microsoft to play nice for your library to stay valid as well.
As for collectors, as we move into the digital world, i’m sure there will be some type of digital display products so people like you can still scratch that itch.
When something is delisted, people use that as an opportunity to raise the price. That doesn't mean it's hard to come by. In fact retro games as a whole are easier than ever to buy.meaning it’s hard to come by.
