Now I'm not saying YOU specifically but this type of talk always reeks of poverty projection to me.Well when they stop making disc drives you gone be SOL either way.
People give microsoft a bunch of shyt. But they have been the best when it comes to rights and preservation of digital games. Which is why i only buy digital games for xbox.

My PS5 with disc drive will be sitting RIGHT NEXT to my all digital PS6. Where is the L?

not true.. I had 2 digital games that I can no longer download from the store because they removed it.. cant remember the name off hand.... i think it was mini ninjas and something else

I lost all my childhood PS2 and GBA games that I lost when I was 16 sitting on an SSD in a drawer. I still have some of my physical PSP games as well but I downloaded the roms and copied all my saved data from my memory stick to my Retroid Pocket 5.

Lots of people's problem is reading comprehension , read again what I said , if you lost access to the main account that purchased the digital game it won't load under console share on playstation. xbox has better tools to recover accounts.

Exactly like I ain't a day one proponent of digital games, I lost access to a bunch of games on my xbox old user id when I switched a email from hotmail to outlook. That's why I keep Always a modded console on the side for backup purposes. If sony,Microsoft and nintendo become the only way to buy games on these consoles they will fukk the consumer over they always choose profit.

If you format your drive as your “home” console you don’t need to log in to play the games.
You can plug it into any xbox/playstation and play the games.

If your XBL account "Meachthemonster" was lost due to some bullshyt with your email/password getting hacked or w/e, you can't just take those backed up games on a SSD/HD and slap them into a new Xbox. If you go to your playstation right now. Create a backup of your games on an SSD and have that SSD set as your home consoles you NEVER need to log on to play those games again.
You can install that hardrive into another playstation and play the games without logging in.

The disc drive is usually the first thing to go.
When that disc drive goes and you can’t find another working one. Your games are dead, unless sony keeps making new disc drives indefinitely into the future.
If your account "Meachthemonster" which you bought your games on was LOST, and you get a new Xbox and you have to create a new XBL account "Meachthemonster_2", you cannot play those games as the license for those games were bought under the now lost and INACCESSIBLE account.
You're talking about losing the account but playing on a new account on the same console that's set as home console. That's different. That's the only con to to all digital games. What they should allow is if in the case something like this happens, for a person to be able to verify their identify with Microsoft and get the games/licenses transferred to a new account.
