This shyt could be the biggest progression in the history of gaming (I understand how long this technology has been worked on) or the biggest flop OAT.
i think some people are eagerly awaiting reports of it not selling well to call it a flop and dismiss it ignoring it's quality. These things can very well have amazing content and experiences unrivaled by anything else but because the average consumer doesn't hop on it they'll just call it a gimmick.

Facebook and Valve won't let that happen. Sony maybe, but not FB and Valve.

...I hope :sadcam:
Facebook changed their perfect ass normal pages for Timelines, and 4 years later, that shyt looked like a pretty good damn idea. They rather go bankrupt than allow that. Hell, they had so much criticism about the size and RAM of the Facebook app that they made an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT APP that is almost just as bad. They literally don't give a fukk about criticism.

They have all the money in the world. Best believe they'll back the Oculus Rift heavy. In 2 -3 years VR will be the norm and Facebook will look like innovators. Valve also doesn't fukk around either. Gabe is rich as fukk and will back SteamVR heavy.

Sony is the only question mark. They aren't doing as well financially. The thing is, their VR headset has the largest user base and a lot rides on them succeeding. You need a pretty powerful PC for the rift and the Vive, but you just need a ps4 for sony's shyt. That's where most people will experience VR for the first time. If that doesn't pan out well, it could mean ruin for VR on a mainstream level. Here's hoping they back it properly. But with their financial problems, they could just throw it to the wayside if it doesn't work out. Let's pray that doesn't happen. I want VR to be the future for all, not just PC gamers. It can literally change the landscape of entertainment. I'll be watching the PSVR very closely and will buy it day 1, just like I did with the Rift and will do Monday with the Vive. Let's hope others but it as well. The potential is so great. :wow:

* Gamers don't like to move
* It requires the use of 2 garbage peripherals that no one cares about
* Gaming is still a social experience that people enjoy more with people physically around them enjoying the same experience
* People want to play COD in full VR with the same graphics they would see on a normal TV, not some corny 3D version of these PS Move games that no one cares about. The gimmick will wear off quickly and the first gen of these peripherals will collect dust.

What two peripherals are required to use the psvr? :patrice:

Your other two points seem stuck in the 90s. Gaming with others in the same room as you is way in the past, as is the assumption that all gamers dislike moving. What about the success of the Wii, or shyt like guitar hero and those dancing games?

Gamers as a whole are a lot more diverse than you seem realise. Sony will find a market for this if they market it correctly.

Just to respond to everyone at once:
I want VR to work. I want it to progress and bring a level of immersion that gamers have been dreaming of for years, I just don't believe the games will be better than what we currently have. As far as the stuck in the 90s comment I disagree. Unless you are single or living with your parents, it will be common for other people to be around you when you're gaming even if you have multiple tvs like I do. I'm not saying it sucks, I'm saying I'm skeptical based on a history of companies gassing up peripheral after peripheral of being the next greatest thing in gaming only to watch it be completely abandoned a year later.

And there will be games that other players take part on what's on the screen while u use VR.

Sony has to get R* onboard with GTAV First person mode & No man Sky has to be VR. Add a 350$ price tag and this thing is gonna fly off shelves. Rigs looks :banderas:

I hope so. I really do. Don't get me wrong. I just approach with caution when it comes to peripherals.

Yeah, honestly a lot of people haven't gotten to test these things out and are going off of word of mouth or online articles/videos. I think nearly everybody in the world knows what the Playstation is and probably knows someone who has one. Even though theirs might be more developed, FB and Steam and anyone else need Sony to open the door, like you essentially said.

Yeah, and people don't want imax or 3d in their living room.

VR in an arcade/theatre setting would be more appealing to the masses.
nikka what people are you talking to. Like are you just bein a idiot cause your a xbot or what? Few people I know like the movie theatre experience either because its a hassle, not ideal seating, expensive, whatever. Most people I know would prefer staying home watching a movie on surround sound if they could than go to the movies. And as far as this talk about gaming being a social thing. Thats how I know nikkas hatin. Cause I haven't played a game in the same room as someone else since Halo 1. So stop with that nonsense, nobody tryina come over to play madden when we can just link up online.

So why did 3d fail at home?:francis:

It's not about playing with the other person. It's about being cutoff from the outside world, and the outside world cutoff from you. Some people don't even like to game with headphones on for this very reason. VR is a very restrictive/individual activity. That's fine for SOME people. But most people live with others.

And that's without even talking about all the cords, and setup involved, and the high price point.

VR is not for the masses.

We are a tech forum here, and I think only one person @Ciggavelli has even preordered a VR unit at this point.

That should give you an indication of its mainstream appeal.:manny:

Yeah, I'm really surprised I'm the only person that ordered the Rift. I thought there would at least be a few more people. I'm ordering the HTC Vive tomorrow morning too. Maybe some others will too. I'm excited as fukk for VR. I dunno why others aren't as excited as me. Maybe once it's out and they can experience it themselves, more will buy these peripherals.
