Its a combination of hand me down music from their parents/family and the general want/need to be aware of cultural history I think (which I think is almost certainly motivated by showing off how cool they are compared to the other kids in school who listened to what was on the radio and MTV)

Hip Hop itself has always been trendy and evolved from what was hot in the streets so theres always this feeling to gravitate to the now as thats considered cool too. That all said I do think we are now at an age where hip hop early generation parents who were kids of the 90s are conencting with their kids over music of the past and I do run into super young people who are into old school hip hop but it goes up to the 90s.

havent finished it yet. some good songs on here, some not so good. yall do know Keith Shocklee is still around and active right? wouldve thought he wouldve got some work on here. still a much needed album in this day and time...havent gotten around to Paris album yet.

I copped the CD to support the fact that PE are back and being supported by Def Jam so I've been letting the album marinate a bit.

There are some cool moments but I think the production let's them down again. "PE Number Won" is the hardest heat on here and just shows that the producers have nothing on Shocklee. The Premo cut is dope too.

Chucks voice is as strong as ever but some of the guests really highlight how Chuck never progressed as a lyricist from the early 80s.

I wish LL was on "PE Number Won" as well. He was shouted out a couple of times so I wonder if that was the intention.

It's a cool album though and I love how relevant it is to the times. So good to hear scratching all over the album as well.
