Lupe let a major label take over his album, pretended to be "against the machine"
then celebrated the very success of his "sell out" album.

He isn't better than Kendrick, he's the psuedo-experimental rapper for dudes who
likely had Lupe fiasco as the first rapper they ever heard that didn't rap about guns & coke.

Robert Glasper, Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Thundercat + Kendrick Lamar > Lupe fiasco, his team of producers and the atlantic songwriters who helped him pump out lasers.
you know lu has been working with them right? :mjlol:

You can taste the bitterness whenever he talks about Kendrick. If people want to argue he is better with references and other lyrical games, sure. But I’m never going to be impressed by a dude rapping from the perspective of a hamburger, sorry. I swear I Gave You Power spawned so many corny ass songs from rappers trying to do the same thing.
and when did lupe do that?

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
NoYork! > T&Y :blessed:
The Iliad is Dead and the Odyssey is Over > T&Y
The Gold Standard > T&Y
Time In Between Thoughts > T&Y
All This Time > T&Y
Good To Be Home > T&Y
TPWOWR > T&Y

Mick Jenkins in general > Lupe.

Some albums that aren't even necessarily Hip-Hop but Hip-Hop adjacent:
Dinner Party > T&Y
Universal Beings > T&Y
You're dead!, Flamagra > T&Y
Drunk, It is what it is > T&Y

And so on.

Lupe's cool, I just don't feel he's the goat.
Also remember, there's people in this thread going hard for Lu
that don't just think he's a nice rapper.
They think he's better than EVERYONE, Nas included.
I don’t think Lupe is better than EVERYONE but he’s def one of the best lyricists to get on the mic. But listen to the key word LYRICIST. NOT rapper. He’s not the best rapper. He’s definitely clearly a better lyricist than Kendrick tho and I honestly think his catalogue is overall better. After Section 80 and GKMC Kendrick been just aight to me.

None of that negates the fact that when Kendrick so called himself laying down a gauntlet and picking at his weak ass contemporaries with Control, he fell silent when challenged by someone who can CLEARLY, CLEARLY RAP BETTER THAN HIM.

His music may be more palatable, but a lot of the themes in his music had already been fleshed out before GKMC dropped by the man in question. I fukk with both, heavy. But Kendrick know what time it is, and Punch and whatever goof ass nikka been making veiled threats like the one in the OP for a minute now to no avail, all because Lupe states the obvious.

Lets be fair here

Kendrick went at Drake, Jay Electronica, and Big Sean and Drake ducked him AND bytched about it.

Kendrick doesn’t duck everyone

Ducked Sean imo and lost the battle of subs, he didnt really want any smoke. J Elect and Drake arent any threats on the mic, especially in comparison to Lupe.

It's kind of funny how Lupe used to rock that I'm a Artist flag early in his career and y'all nikkas was like yes!

Now that Artists shyt he couldn't use after a few albums of his flopped and a Artist Like Kendrick Lamar came and did shyt he wanted to and couldn't he started with I'm a lyricist I only care about lyrics.

Now I'm a hip hop head I love lyrics and can't stand Sucker and Wack Emcees but Lu is doing too much

Look. I'm not saying Lupe ain't a better "lyricist" than Kendrick. But we seen what happened when Drake washed Meek and when Budden barred Drake up and no one cared. But Pusha also bodied Drake so...

Aye, I'm here for it lol. But ain't nothing coming from this.
