Question, did Kevin Hart fall off or was his standup never funny to begin with? Does he belong on this flyer brehs?

During his 09-11 standup run, he had a claim for at least being top 30 imho. He didn't have the best jokes or material but he was very charismatic and animated and had some iconic jokes such as "say it with your chest!" and the why he can't be a rapper joke. After that window, he became more associated with being the token short comedic actor that's treated like a punching bag in movies and his standup declined sharply.

Kevin isn't as unfunny as people make him out to be. He can get chuckles out of people with a number of his jokes. And he can lowkey roast the hell out of people outside of standup.

He just lacks subversion and witty writing when it comes to his jokes. A good portion of Kevin's jokes are "Dane Cook like" in the sense that it relies on you seeing him being animated and charismatic more than the joke itself. People will enjoy Kevin's standups in person or on the screen way more than they would on audio for instance.

But, like I said, his 3 standups from 09-11 prove that he's not as "untalented" or "unfunny" as people make him out to be. He just became more of a brand and actor which hurt the quality of his standups over time.

nikkas was quoting that HEAVY. Mike Epps is barely funny. Most people can’t even quote a Mike Epps joke.

I wouldn’t say fell off but more like transitioned to being a brand
he stopped being funny when he made his priority on becoming a billionaire
now his in every movie playing the same role, commercial, ads etc

Kevin has tailored his act to be accessible non abrasive and mainstream. He has maximized profits as such. All that shyt Katt said was hate.

Katt is a self saboteur. He is an immensely talented comedian and he took the wheel when Chapelle left and it was his vehicle to drive to the end but he jumped out early and started doing drugs fukking up.

He can't be mad at Kevin for making compromises he wasn't willing to make. Kevin wanted to be exactly what he became. He is not fit for that line up because his act is not great for that platform, it has no teeth. He works in movies. Everyone has a lane. This shyt is very uncomplicated.

Again I fukk with Katt but he is no underdog. He is a person who gets in their own way. He don't want to play ball with Hollywood and that's ok. Then why is he mad at those who did? Now it's cool to look at Kevin's success with some revisionist bullshyt. Nope. Katt is petty and he fed the audience what they wanted to hear. All that fakkit shyt.

he has a lot of people workin for him and depending on him so I get the brand thing. Dude is a crazy workaholic too.

his specials, especially the first one, is classic to me. The rest are aite.

His non comedic movies/series show dude has range. And dem shyts are pretty good. The joint with Wesley was REAL good. Fatherhood was dope too.

but it's a lotta crab mentality shyt with the hate.

Yall trynna rewrite history. He was in nikkas top 5 a couple of years ago.

The issue is he was everywhere, dropping multiple movies and specials. It just became microwavable material at this point. In other words he fell off in our eyes because the jokes were just unfunny anymore. To say he was never funny is idiotic.
:russ:I wouldn’t say he was in bruhs top 5 but he was definitely considered funny. By majority of the community when Seriously Funny dropped. Not saying there weren’t people who didn’t find Kev funny. But that wasn’t the popular opinion back then. Now bruhs are trying to rewrite history because Katt told them too. Now Kev was “never” funny lol.

His standup was a C grade.

Funny at some points but average at other points.

Kevin is just entertaining as an actor.
