nikkas was quoting that HEAVY. Mike Epps is barely funny. Most people can’t even quote a Mike Epps joke.
Yup. Mike is more naturally funny but his standup can't compare to Kevin's 09-11 run.

Also, like you said, the idea that Black people didn't f*ck with Kev's early standup or quote his lines is straight up revisionist history.

Nobody stays on top forever.

Kev was legit funny as a standup and had the respect of his peers and legit funny dudes like Patrice.

Comedy is subjective of course but anybody saying Kevin Hart was never funny at all is just riding the recent hate wave imo

Never thought he was a top tier comic, but he seems to put in the work. I still think he was a plant and have been saying that before the Katt Williams interview. but there are comedians like Epps who shyt on him but don’t have his work ethic.
What's a plant? - (This is a question for anybody)

Mike Epps is not funny to me. He has his moments, but he has never put together a full solid stand up special. Now he will roast the shyt outta you, but he does nothing for me outside of that.

The other 3 I'll definitely watch.

I'd swap Mike Epps with Roy Wood, Jr. Easily.

he has a lot of people workin for him and depending on him so I get the brand thing. Dude is a crazy workaholic too.

his specials, especially the first one, is classic to me. The rest are aite.

His non comedic movies/series show dude has range. And dem shyts are pretty good. The joint with Wesley was REAL good. Fatherhood was dope too.

but it's a lotta crab mentality shyt with the hate.

Yh no hate at all, I thought he was the funniest thing when he came on the scene
also I never seen him being arrogant or mad disrespectful like other comedians. so much luck to him
it's just the oversaturation of him might be a double end sword

nikka knew the right Jews and has no ethics, standards, and principles about himself

That’s how all the “hard working” negroes from 2000 on got on.

Jigs up.

This. Early Kevin was funny to my but now I can't get through his sets, they don't hit the same! He doesn't have struggle in life anymore really so his comedy is just off. He makes so much money from touring so I get it but I think he should be just a movie star.

That was probably his whole lifes worth of material in his first couple specials. Its the same reason alot of times rappers first albums are their best.

Mike Epps is an underwhelming standup but an EXCELLENT actor in my opinion. Like i’ve never been impressed with him onstage but i’ve legit been pleasantly surprised by his acting in certain roles.

Kevin Hart as a standup in his prime was better than Mike Epps, Michael Blackson, Gary Owen, Deray Davis, and comedians of that ilk but a step below somebody like Katt Williams. Somebody already said this but Kevin’s strengths are in his charisma, his body movements while telling a story and his ability to embody original characters like his dad, uncle, mom, etc. I also think Kevin takes his acting more seriously which is why he can be a really good dramatic actor when the situation calls for it.

You CANNOT “Plant” the success that Kevin attained, and all claims to the contrary is simply hating.

Kevin’s fatal “flaw” was that as a comedian he fell off RIGHT as he caught fire, so even though the movie roles made him a bigger star he really needed to stick the landing on Let Me Explain to kind of be cemented as a standup legend. I say to this day the lukewarm reception of Let Me Explain is why Epps, Williams, and Blackson thought they could take the shots they did. If Let Me Explain would have been a classic nobody would’ve been able to say shyt about him but you could tell there was jealousy about his ascent and they used that to smell blood in the water and try to discredit him.

The problem with that was Katt himself was falling off with all the alleged drug problems and getting a bad rep for being an unpredictable livewire. Epps wasn’t setting the world on fire with any of his stuff and Blackson, God bless him, will always be C-list so its not like there were any viable “replacements” for Hart. Dave Chappelle hadn’t returned, Chris Rock was doing movies, there was a big space left open for a new breed of comedians to take over and it felt like Kevin was the only one who really went for it
